Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 2

The Birth of Jesus

2 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14  “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
    and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

21 On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
Our One and Only God,
How Excellent is Your Name Over All The Earth!
How Magnificent Is Your Glory,
And How Righteous Are Your Precepts,
How True and Perfect Your Judgments!
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are Lord,
You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham!
What can we do except gasp in Wonder at Your Holy Word,
As You Open Up Your Eternal and
Wonderful Redemptive
Love To Us?

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

In the Sixth Grade, our Chorus Director (Mrs. McCoy) had the Glee Club perform a Choral Recitation of Today's Scripture Passage, followed by "Silent Night". It was a Beautiful Presentation and I never forgot what I had been directed to memorize. (Thank You, Mrs. McCoy!)

A year later, I was delighted to hear the Cartoon Character Linus recite this same Passage in the debut of A Charlie Brown Christmas. What was significant in this recitation was that Linus let his Security Blanket drop to the ground as he recited the Passage.

Tomorrow we will start the New Year with something I haven't done on this Thread in ten years. Two hints: Turn up your speakers and turn to Isaiah 40.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

We also sang Christian music in public school when I was young, up until the time O’Hare got God removed from the public square. I’ll always be grateful to my music teachers, who were definitely born from the Victorian era, for teaching us so many great God- and country-loving songs. Happy New Year, LTOS.

Prayer At the Beginning of a New Year

Thank You, Lord, for the beginning of a new year and as we step out into the unknown future, we pray that You would be with us, leading and guiding us, teaching and drawing us ever closer to each other and to Yourself. Thank You that Your steadfast love never ceases and that Your mercies are new every morning, great is Your faithfulness, O Lord.

Father, we know that these times in which we live are becoming fraught with difficulties and increasingly stressful, and yet Father our hope is in You, for You are our faithful God Who has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. Father, as we step onto the threshold of a new year, with it’s inevitable problems and pain, I place my hand into Yours Lord, and trust You to lead me along the right way that I should go, for I know Father that there is no safer place to be than walking in fellowship with You.

As we step out into the unknown future, I offer my life a living sacrifice to You. May I be used for Your praise and glory. In Jesus’ name I pray,

Amen.

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 11

To the leader. Of David.

1 In the Lord I take refuge; how can you say to me,
‘Flee like a bird to the mountains;*
2 for look, the wicked bend the bow,
they have fitted their arrow to the string,
to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart.
3 If the foundations are destroyed,
what can the righteous do?’

4 The Lord is in his holy temple;
the Lord’s throne is in heaven.
His eyes behold, his gaze examines humankind.
5 The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked,
and his soul hates the lover of violence.
6 On the wicked he will rain coals of fire and sulphur;
a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.
7 For the Lord is righteous;
he loves righteous deeds;
the upright shall behold his face.
