Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Acts 28
Paul Preaches at Rome Under Guard
17 Three days later he called together the local Jewish leaders. When they had assembled, Paul said to them: “My brothers, although I have done nothing against our people or against the customs of our ancestors, I was arrested in Jerusalem and handed over to the Romans. 18 They examined me and wanted to release me, because I was not guilty of any crime deserving death. 19 The Jews objected, so I was compelled to make an appeal to Caesar. I certainly did not intend to bring any charge against my own people. 20 For this reason I have asked to see you and talk with you. It is because of the hope of Israel that I am bound with this chain.”
21 They replied, “We have not received any letters from Judea concerning you, and none of our people who have come from there has reported or said anything bad about you. 22 But we want to hear what your views are, for we know that people everywhere are talking against this sect.”
23 They arranged to meet Paul on a certain day, and came in even larger numbers to the place where he was staying. He witnessed to them from morning till evening, explaining about the kingdom of God, and from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets he tried to persuade them about Jesus. 24 Some were convinced by what he said, but others would not believe. 25 They disagreed among themselves and began to leave after Paul had made this final statement: “The Holy Spirit spoke the truth to your ancestors when he said through Isaiah the prophet:
26 “‘Go to this people and say,
“You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.”
27 For this people’s heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.’[a]
28 “Therefore I want you to know that God’s salvation has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen!” [29] [b]
30 For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. 31 He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance!

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven
Hallowed Be Your Name!
Thank You For Revealing
Yourself to Us Through Your Word.
Thank You For Revealing to Us
These Adventures of Paul, and
Thank You For The Insights
That You Gave Us From These Stories,
So That We Can Be Guided By Them,
Even to This Day.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Everybody has a dream. My dream, which at this point in my life will probably never happen (oh Well) is to ride across America on my Harley. The most important part of the journey of my dreams is to ride Rt 66, The Famous "Mother Road" of American Legend. Since my Bike, Rt 66, and my Body are all old and falling apart, I guess I will have to live my dream in a song I wrote several years ago. I have printed these lyrics on my Home Page as well. Since I am going back to my first "Open Mike" in over three weeks tonight (due to illness, I have been staying home), I think I will sing this song as part of my program.
People who have been on this Thread for a while will recognize my Song, but we have some new People, so here we go.
THE MOTHER ROAD
by ML/LTOS c1995
My girlfriend lives in Missouri, on the outskirts of St. Lou.
She fights the River every spring, like all her neighbors do
She's been to Tahiti, and she loves to figure skate.
She says I'll always have a place to sleep if I'm ever in her state.
(CHORUS)
I'll always have a place to stay
When I ride the Mother Road.
At every stop along the way,
I find an open door.
My friends all think that I'm crazy,
But They love me anyway.
And when I ride that Mother Road,
I'll always have a place to stay.
My cousin lives near Tulsa, right off Rt 66,
In the home town of Will Rogers, in the Oklahoma sticks.
There ain't a musical instr'ment that the gal can't play!
She says I'll always have a place to sleep, if I'm ever out that way.
(CHORUS)
I'll always have a place to stay
When I ride the Mother Road.
At every stop along the way,
I find an open door.
My friends all think that I'm crazy,
But They love me anyway.
And when I ride that Mother Road,
I'll always have a place to stay.
(Bridge)
Old Motel on the auction block
Ancient Symbols carved in the rock
Big empty sky, except for a hawk
Looks like someone turned back the clock!
(instrumental solo)
My uncle lives in Texas, and that's music to my ears.
He once traced his ancestry back to the Trail of Tears
he likes to sleep in the desert, and dance out under the stars.
He says I'll always have a place to sleep "IF I EVER GET THAT FAR!"
(CHORUS)
I'll always have a place to stay
When I ride the Mother Road.
At every stop along the way,
I find an open door.
My friends all think that I'm crazy,
But They love me anyway.
And when I ride that Mother Road,
I'll always have a place to stay.
I printed out the words of this song as our "goodbye" to The Book of Acts. Paul and the other Apostles traveled on the best roads the Ancient World could offer and always found a place to stay among believers wherever they went. There were those who thought they were a little "crazy" but they were ALWAYS a force to be reckoned with and impossible to ignore. The Book of Acts ends abruptly here, but the Journey continues.
Tomorrow we will revisit some New Testament Passages that have to do with Christmas...then...On to the Old Testament for the New Year!
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

You aren’t alone with the wish to travel Route 66. Ask the things we wished to do here in this world, we’ll be able to do even more in Heaven. There the ultimate road trip will be on streets of gold. We’ll join you.
Thanks for the trip through Acts. It is so dramatic. Looking forward to the next trip you have planned for us.
Today we lift up Israel in their war against terror. We also pray for the attacks against God people in NY and other cities all around the world. We know this is happening because Satan hates Lord Jesus, and so do his followers. We give thanks to God for His divine protection and victory. We pray for our enemies that they as well will see the Light, Truth, Love and Life that only comes through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Psalm 132
A Song of Ascents.
1 O Lord, remember in David’s favour
all the hardships he endured;
2 how he swore to the Lord
and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob,
3 ‘I will not enter my house
or get into my bed;
4 I will not give sleep to my eyes
or slumber to my eyelids,
5 until I find a place for the Lord,
a dwelling-place for the Mighty One of Jacob.’
6 We heard of it in Ephrathah;
we found it in the fields of Jaar.
7 ‘Let us go to his dwelling-place;
let us worship at his footstool.’
8 Rise up, O Lord, and go to your resting-place,
you and the ark of your might.
9 Let your priests be clothed with righteousness,
and let your faithful shout for joy.
10 For your servant David’s sake
do not turn away the face of your anointed one.
11 The Lord swore to David a sure oath
from which he will not turn back:
‘One of the sons of your body
I will set on your throne.
12 If your sons keep my covenant
and my decrees that I shall teach them,
their sons also, for evermore,
shall sit on your throne.’
13 For the Lord has chosen Zion;
he has desired it for his habitation:
14 ‘This is my resting-place for ever;
here I will reside, for I have desired it.
15 I will abundantly bless its provisions;
I will satisfy its poor with bread.
16 Its priests I will clothe with salvation,
and its faithful will shout for joy.
17 There I will cause a horn to sprout up for David;
I have prepared a lamp for my anointed one.
18 His enemies I will clothe with disgrace,
but on him, his crown will gleam.’
