Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Acts 23
Paul Transferred to Caesarea
23 Then he called two of his centurions and ordered them, “Get ready a detachment of two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen[b] to go to Caesarea at nine tonight. 24 Provide horses for Paul so that he may be taken safely to Governor Felix.”
25 He wrote a letter as follows:
26 Claudius Lysias,
To His Excellency, Governor Felix:
Greetings.
27 This man was seized by the Jews and they were about to kill him, but I came with my troops and rescued him, for I had learned that he is a Roman citizen. 28 I wanted to know why they were accusing him, so I brought him to their Sanhedrin. 29 I found that the accusation had to do with questions about their law, but there was no charge against him that deserved death or imprisonment. 30 When I was informed of a plot to be carried out against the man, I sent him to you at once. I also ordered his accusers to present to you their case against him.
31 So the soldiers, carrying out their orders, took Paul with them during the night and brought him as far as Antipatris. 32 The next day they let the cavalry go on with him, while they returned to the barracks. 33 When the cavalry arrived in Caesarea, they delivered the letter to the governor and handed Paul over to him. 34 The governor read the letter and asked what province he was from. Learning that he was from Cilicia, 35 he said, “I will hear your case when your accusers get here.” Then he ordered that Paul be kept under guard in Herod’s palace.

Our God and Heavenly Father,
Holy is Your Name.
Thank You For Your Healing,
Thank You For Your Wonderful Gifts.
Thank You For Making the Foolish Things of the World Wise,
And For Making The Mighty Things Small.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,

The last two weeks have been rough. I've had the worst, disgusting cold, which was so nasty that at one point I thought I had pneumonia. I'm on the mend now, thanks to your prayers, but, as I look back on the Thread, I realize that I made some bloopers, mostly Chapter and Verse numbers. I'm going to try and correct all the things i can find (I think I left out a whole segment) and then we'll move on with the story. Anyway, thanks for your prayers!
Caesarea was a town built from scratch in the Roman style right on the Mediterranean. Herod had it built to flatter Caesar, and thus, it was full of Roman Temples, Stadiums, Arenas, and Pagan Monuments. Needless to say, it was a city NOT beloved of the Jews.
Albert Speer was a high-ranking Nazi whose main profession was that of an Architect. His style of brutal, fake-classical, grandiose, (and quite UGLY) architecture fit in perfectly with Hitler's evil ambition to build an empire that would last a thousand years. It is said that Hitler wanted buildings that would look imposing even as they fall into ruin, like the Colosseum or The Parthenon. Although Speer maintained until his death that he "knew nuthink" about The Holocaust, he designed the very infrastructure that led to the deaths of MILLIONS. So I, for one, don't buy it.
Herod The Great was also quite an architect. His projects range from the structure around Abraham's Tomb in Hebron, The Restoration and Expansion of the Second Temple, The Palace Fortress at Masada, and the WHOLE CITY of Caesarea. (side note...I have visited ALL of the above). Herod's style was monumental and brutal, just like Speer's, and, just like Speer, Herod was a mass-murderer as well. In Herod's case, he wielded the sword himself even as he delegated others to kill. And, like Speer, Herod used his architecture to flatter the ones who were really in power. Herod was merely a client king, a puppet of the Roman Empire, and his hold on power was as tenuous as the whims of Caesar. And so, he designed and built the City of Caesarea, naming it after his boss.
A trip to Israel would be incomplete without touring Caesarea. The huge amphitheater alone is worth a whole day of exploration. A stone commemorating its dedication mentions none other than Pontius Pilate (another sycophant!), a Roman Aqueduct catches the rays of the rising sun, and a crumbling Crusader Castle are all there for the scholar and tourist alike.
This is the city to which Paul was taken to answer a charge brought against him in Jerusalem. It is a different world, as well as a different city. A mere 60 miles separates them physically, but an entire universe separates them spiritually.

Psalm 46
To the leader. Of the Korahites. According to Alamoth. A Song.
1 God is our refuge and strength,
a very present* help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
3 though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.
Selah
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.
5 God is in the midst of the city;* it shall not be moved;
God will help it when the morning dawns.
6 The nations are in an uproar, the kingdoms totter;
he utters his voice, the earth melts.
7 The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge.*
Selah
8 Come, behold the works of the Lord;
see what desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow, and shatters the spear;
he burns the shields with fire.
10 ‘Be still, and know that I am God!
I am exalted among the nations,
I am exalted in the earth.’
11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge.*
Selah

Prayer For Peace In Israel
Loving Father, we are called to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and Lord, we do pray that Your peace would one day soon descend upon that city of Jerusalem and spread across the whole nation of Israel, until the world is filled with the glory of God as the waters cover the sea.
But Father, we know that there will be no peace in that land, nor indeed in any of the nations of the world, until the Lord Jesus comes to reign as King of kings, Lord of lords and Prince of Peace. And so Lord we pray Maranatha, Come Lord Jesus, come Thou long expected Jesus, come to set Your people free, come and to set up Your promised rule on earth, for Lord, we know that without You there can be no peace on earth and only an increase in the ragings of the nations against Your people Israel and Your holy city of Jerusalem.
The nations are increasingly raging against Your people and Your land, and Father we know that nothing can bring peace on earth, except the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to take up His rightful position as King of Israel and Saviour of the World.
Father, we pray that while there is still time that many may come to know and trust the Lord Jesus as the one and only Prince of Peace, both in the land of Israel and throughout the world. In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.
