Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Acts 22
1 “Brothers and fathers, listen now to my defense.”
2 When they heard him speak to them in Aramaic, they became very quiet. Then Paul said: 3 “I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city. I studied under Gamaliel and was thoroughly trained in the law of our ancestors. I was just as zealous for God as any of you are today. 4 I persecuted the followers of this Way to their death, arresting both men and women and throwing them into prison, 5 as the high priest and all the Council can themselves testify. I even obtained letters from them to their associates in Damascus, and went there to bring these people as prisoners to Jerusalem to be punished.
6 “About noon as I came near Damascus, suddenly a bright light from heaven flashed around me. 7 I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me, ‘Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute me?’
8 “‘Who are you, Lord?’ I asked.
“ ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting,’ he replied. 9 My companions saw the light, but they did not understand the voice of him who was speaking to me.
10 “‘What shall I do, Lord?’ I asked.
“ ‘Get up,’ the Lord said, ‘and go into Damascus. There you will be told all that you have been assigned to do.’ 11 My companions led me by the hand into Damascus, because the brilliance of the light had blinded me.
12 “A man named Ananias came to see me. He was a devout observer of the law and highly respected by all the Jews living there. 13 He stood beside me and said, ‘Brother Saul, receive your sight!’ And at that very moment I was able to see him.
14 “Then he said: ‘The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and to hear words from his mouth. 15 You will be his witness to all people of what you have seen and heard. 16 And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’
17 “When I returned to Jerusalem and was praying at the temple, I fell into a trance 18 and saw the Lord speaking to me. ‘Quick!’ he said. ‘Leave Jerusalem immediately, because the people here will not accept your testimony about me.’
19 “‘Lord,’ I replied, ‘these people know that I went from one synagogue to another to imprison and beat those who believe in you. 20 And when the blood of your martyr[a] Stephen was shed, I stood there giving my approval and guarding the clothes of those who were killing him.’
21 “Then the Lord said to me, ‘Go; I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’ ”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
Our God,
How Blessed is Your Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God.
Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent,
You Know Our Needs Before We Even Ask
And Your Covenant Love is Everlasting!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Way back in the last decade of The Twentieth Century (OH MY! Did I just write those words? Now I feel OLD!), my hubby and I rode with a motorcycle "group" that got together every Thursday Night for a ride to wherever. Usually we rode South or West and did not venture into Downtown Boston, as the traffic was nasty and the ride wouldn't be fun at all. Often we would find a place with live music, karaoke, or a DJ, and feast on fried clams and french fries, and then ride home again. I understand that the group still meets, but have gotten a bad reputation for "unsafe" driving (usually on the trip home) and since my husband died, I have not participated. I prefer to ride solo at this point anyway.
One evening, the group actually DID go Downtown, as a friend was doing a gig at a Comedy Club. My husband LOVED "Stand-Up", as it was part of his heritage, and I don't like it at all, but hey...it was a friend so we went, as a crowd of about twenty bikers to support him. Well, the evening dragged on, trotting up one hopeful stand-up person after another, each one trying to outdo the person before him. Most of the "shtick" was embarrassingly un-funny, and elicited embarrassed titters and scattered applause from the audience. By the time our friend appeared, I was extremely nudgie and couldn't wait to get out of there.
The friend did an OK set that was peppered with a few lewd remarks and cuss words. Of course, the crowd of bikers ROARED their approval, and thus strengthened he got more-and-more off-color, and it escalated. Meanwhile, I sank lower and lower into my seat, wishing I could be somewhere else.
Our friend was just the warm-up act for the headliner, a woman who followed immediately after. Having watched our friend's performance, and not realizing that the bikers were there FOR HIM, she thought that the crowd WANTED a routine that was "blue". So she launched into a positive TIRADE of filth. I mean it was so bad I'll bet even Lenny Bruce was rolling in his grave. I turned to my husband and said "Let's Go", and we left. The parking lot was full of bikes but we managed to get out and ride home together, just the two of us.
Paul's speech to a hostile crowd actually held their attention as he told his own story. He spoke of his origins as a devout follower of the Law, and persecutor of Christians. He described his conversion experience, his healing from blindness, and his journeys. But then...he said the "G" word: "Gentiles". Suddenly the crowd changed. They stopped listening to any explanations or exhortations. But rather than just LEAVE, they wanted to kill Paul.
The alleged headliner had been the nastiest so-called comedian I have ever heard up until a few months ago, when a woman attempted "Stand-Up" at one of the Open Mike Nights that I like to attend. She was even worse, but I just went out onto the deck and hung out with other folks who found her offensive. She wasn't even funny, which was probably even worse than being dirty.
Nevertheless, unlike the crowd Paul was facing, nobody wanted to KILL her.

Christians still see that today after the centuries. We are more dangerous than Al Qaeda because we go against Satan’s narrative. The devil’s followers are terrified of Jesus Christ!

Psalm 20
To the leader. A Psalm of David.
1 The Lord answer you in the day of trouble!
The name of the God of Jacob protect you!
2 May he send you help from the sanctuary,
and give you support from Zion.
3 May he remember all your offerings,
and regard with favour your burnt sacrifices.
Selah
4 May he grant you your heart’s desire,
and fulfil all your plans.
5 May we shout for joy over your victory,
and in the name of our God set up our banners.
May the Lord fulfil all your petitions.
6 Now I know that the Lord will help his anointed;
he will answer him from his holy heaven
with mighty victories by his right hand.
7 Some take pride in chariots, and some in horses,
but our pride is in the name of the Lord our God.
8 They will collapse and fall,
but we shall rise and stand upright.
9 Give victory to the king, O Lord;
answer us when we call.*
