I’ve wanted to remain positive about the newly-elected Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson. Johnson has been hailed as a Bible-believing Christian who holds to biblically based policy positions and will help steer the nation back to a more traditional biblical ethic on contentious issues such as marriage, abortion, and LGBT stuff. And that may still be the case. But at what cost?
A few weeks ago, we reported that Mike Johnson held a flag outside of his office that has been co-opted by and has become a symbol representing alignment with the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR)—a movement that believes in a modern-day restoration of Prophets and Apostles. The fruit of this movement is anything but good as it seeks to take dominion over every aspect of society through despite its theological aberrations and strange fire. The movement claims direct, divine revelation and inspiration from God Himself.
It has become abundantly clear that Johnson has now aligned himself with this movement. In a recent video clip that has emerged on social media, Johnson claims that God told him directly that he was to become a Moses-like figure leading America through a “Red Sea moment.”
“The Lord impressed upon my heart in the last few weeks…that something was going to occur. The Lord very specifically told me in my prayers to prepare, but to wait,” Johnson said during a speech at the National Association of Christian Lawmakers.
“To prepare for what? I said to the Lord. You know. I had this sense that we were going to come to a Red Sea moment in our Republican Conference and the country, in large. And, Look, I’m a Southern Baptist I don’t want to get too spooky on you…but you know, the Lord speaks to your heart. And He had been speaking to me about this and the Lord told me very clearly to prepare and be ready…for a Red Sea moment.”
He then explained how he thought that the Lord was going to allow him to “be an Aaron to Moses,” but then it later became clear, after the Lord kept telling Him to “wait,” that the Lord was choosing him to be Moses.
But here’s the thing, this is totally absurd, cult-like, and heretical. The Lord did not tell him this and to set himself up as some kind of Moses figure is actually quite blasphemous. He is ascribing words to the Lord that He did not speak. As much as I would like to have God-honoring Christian leaders in this nation, this level of arrogance and self-idolatry is not something we can get behind.
If he makes good policy decisions that benefit the nation, I will support them. But this kind of rhetoric is not becoming of a Christian who believes the Bible is sufficient and authoritative. This is becoming of a man who believes he is a prophet and has set himself up as a type of Christ when this nation needs moral clarity and gospel truth, not confusion and false teachings.

Instead of a 2:15 second clip I would like to see the whole speech for more context.
Politician + nut-case thumper = what could go wrong?
Oy!
“ to set himself up as some kind of Moses figure is actually quite blasphemous”
No! It’s not blasphemy. Moses was just a human being and a sinner.
There is a difference between saying “the lord told me to do this” and “the lord told me to tell you to do this”.
The first is between that person and God, and I don’t presume to know whether it happened. The 2nd I’m going to be very skeptical about.
"'Mike Johnson Says God Chose Him to be a “Moses” Leading America Through a “Red Sea Moment”"
Regarding "power of the purse" House Speaker Mike Johnson in the context of what the Bible teaches us about unlawful taxes, Johnson needs to review Luke 19:2-8, especially verse 8, and consider that chief tax collector Zacchaeus told Jesus that if he ever cheated anybody out of anything that he will pay it back four times.
That being said, Speaker Mike Johnson needs to consider the possibility that G-d is calling for him to lead Congress to propose an amendment to the Constitution to the states to put a stop to unconstitutional federal taxing and spending by repealing the 16th (direct taxes) and 17th (popular voting for federal senators) Amendments (16&17A). The repeal amendment needs to be strictly limited to repealing those amendments for fastest ratification imo.
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
“If the tax be not proposed for the common defence, or general welfare, but for other objects, wholly extraneous, (as for instance, for propagating Mahometanism among the Turks, or giving aids and subsidies to a foreign nation, to build palaces for its kings, or erect monuments to its heroes,) it would be wholly indefensible upon constitutional principles [emphases added].” — Justice Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution 2 (1833).
From the congressional record:
”Simply this, that the care of the property, the liberty, and the life of the citizen, under the solemn sanction of an oath imposed by your Constitution, is in the States and not in the federal government [emphases added]. I have sought to effect no change in that respect in the Constitution of the country.” —John Bingham, Congressional. Globe. 1866, page 1292 (see top half of third column)
“Cherish, therefore, the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention. If once they become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, judges and governors, shall all become wolves [emphasis added]. It seems to be the law of our general nature.” - Thomas Jefferson (Letter to Edward Carrington January 16, 1787)
Pelosi: "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it." (non-FR; 6 sec.)
Democrats Are Terrified Of An Educated And Informed Public (3.12.23)
Consider the repealing of 16&17A as part of reparations for victim taxpayers of the unconstitutionally big federal government for having to pay a lifetime of unconstitutional federal taxes, taxes that Congress cannot reasonably justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers and a few other constitutionally enumerated expenses.
Next, consider that the next major political event in USA is not hopeful Trump 47 being elected a third time, but Democratic and Republican Trump-supporting patriots getting ready ASAP to support Trump campaign by primarying ALL state and federal, lawmakers and executives, except for MTG Gaetz & Company (and others?), for the 2024 primaries.
After all, lawmakers and executives continue to show that they do not have the patriotism and leadership skills necessary to find legislative support for effective remedies for unconstitutional government policies.
In fact, consider that since one of the very few powers that the states have expressly constitutionally given to the big, bad federal government to dictate peacetime domestic policy is to run the US Mail Service (most federal domestic policy actually based on stolen state powers imo), the worst problem that the country would otherwise be looking at with a new Congress of Trump-supporting freshman lawmakers is arguably that citizens that would ultimately get into the habit of lightheartedly questioning if the federal government has shutdown if they receive their mail a few days late.
"Article I, Section 8, Clause 7: To establish Post Offices and post Roads;"
"From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]." —United States v. Butler, 1936.
Trump can endorse candidates from lists that patriots who respect the federal government's constitutionally limited powers provide for him, as long as candidates are not incumbents, candidates not only promising to support Trump to finish draining the swamp, but also to support him in surrendering state powers that the corrupt, constitutionally undefined political parties that have pirated control of the federal government have stolen from the states back to the states.
The definition of insanity is reelecting your beloved career state and federal lawmakers and executives over and over again, expecting those same politicians to find remedies for unconstitutional government policies every time.
Again, let's not allow ourselves to be fooled for third time in 2024 by the corrupt, constitutionally undefined political parties that have pirated control of state and federal governments.
Finally, consider that corrupt political party and media fuss about "obsolete" electoral college is because the electoral college is the only thing stopping the corrupt political parties from establishing a permanent puppet presidency that will unquestioningly sign unconstitutional taxing and spending bills into law.
My brother owned a small business. He learned that the other businesses that advertised being Christian on their business cards typically were hypocrites. Instead of faith calling them to greater integrity, it was often used as a plea for some slack in sending the payments. “We’re all Christians here, can you give us a break?”
So, sometimes overt references to faith can be weaponized in ways that are not Christian.
Not sure about Johnson. Time will tell.
He ain’t Moses.
Call me when the sea crashes down on Pharaoh and his army...
I’m in agreement!
Did God tell him to cave on the defense bill?
The time for words has passed. And any cynicism regarding the spineless GOP and its noodle leadership has been earned.
So God wants the GOP majority in the house to do nothing and then lose the majority in the next election. As they say, The Lord works in mysterious ways.
The words CHUTZPAH & HUBRIS immediately come to mind.

"which [flag] Rolling Stone associated with the movement.[24]" So when something you use becomes co-opted by a movement, then it necessarily means you are one of them? Then according to that rule, what does this equate to?
I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. (Genesis 9:13)Speak about blasphemy!

ENCYCLICAL LETTER CARITAS IN VERITATE
Secular authorities, whatever office they may hold, shall be admonished and induced and if necessary compelled by ecclesiastical censure,...to exterminate in the territories subject to their jurisdiction all heretics pointed out by the Church;.. -Canons of the Ecumenical Fourth Lateran Council (canon 3), 1215: . (http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/basis/lateran4.asp)
67. To manage the global economy; to revive economies hit by the crisis; to avoid any deterioration of the present crisis and the greater imbalances that would result; to bring about integral and timely disarmament, food security and peace; to guarantee the protection of the environment and to regulate migration: for all this, there is urgent need of a true world political authority,.. Furthermore, such an authority would need to be universally recognized and to be vested with the effective power to ensure security for all, regard for justice, and respect for rights. Obviously it would have to have the authority to ensure compliance with its decisions from all parties, - https://holyseemission.org/contents/statements/address-of-the-holy-father-paul-vi-to-the-united-nations-organization.phpOr the New Apostolic Reformation is a non-structured Pentecostal movement, whose theocracy:"
"Though similar in intent and purpose, not to be confused with theocratic government but rather the goal to have "kingdom-minded people" in all areas of society. There are seven areas identified specifically: religion, family, education, government, media, arts & entertainment, and business.[2] Relational structures – church governance has no formal structure but rather is by relational and voluntary alignment to apostles.[5]" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Apostolic_ReformationIt is the Left which really is up in arms at the very thought, while this is not a monarchy, nor even a structured organic church, and yet considering the form and problems of self-rule within this popular class of Pentecostalism then it could hardly be a monarchy, which will come, under the Lord Jesus!
He then explained how he thought that the Lord was going to allow him to “be an Aaron to Moses,” But here’s the thing, this is totally absurd, cult-like, and heretical. The Lord did not tell him this and to set himself up as some kind of Moses figure is actually quite blasphemous. He is ascribing words to the Lord that He did not speak. As much as I would like to have God-honoring Christian leaders in this nation, this level of arrogance and self-idolatry is not something we can get behind."blasphemous," "arrogance and self-idolatry!" Rather, the author is ascribing meanings to his words that Johnson He did not speak nor warrant meaning. First, an "Aaron to Moses" means to be a spokesperson and minister under authority (Trump being Moses") and "like" simply is not blasphemous, for "like" does not translate into being a Moses in all that means, nor necessarily meaning instituting a monarchy or dictatorship (as the Left takes his words to mean), but can mean as serving as an aid to leadership to who represents deliverance. Even mods here can say that they are like an Aaron to a Moses.
this kind of rhetoric is not becoming of a Christian who believes the Bible is sufficient and authoritative.Wrong again. Saying "The Lord impressed upon my heart" is relaying "private revelation," which is not adding to the Bible, and is not very different than a pastor saying he sensed God telling him to preach a certain message to the masses. (Meanwhile, most every pastor hopes that the Lord will impress upon hearts to give bountifully!)
Rather than being as an "Aaron to Moses" being opposed to moral clarity and gospel truth, it supports it.
when this nation needs moral clarity and gospel truth, not confusion and false teachings.
This is becoming of a man who believes he is a prophet and has set himself up as a type of ChristMore unScriptural and nonsensical hysteria. "A type of Christ" as meaning working to provide deliverance as "workers together with God" is what all believers are to be as. Meanwhile, though unlike Biblical prophets, today pseudoprophets are the norm, yet there are fortelling as well as forthtelling prophets (John the Baptist), And while I am not aware of many documented fortelling prophets, yet there are those who operate as forthtelling prophets, who speak God's Scriptural truth to power, etc. without adding to Scripture. Who can only speak in accordance with the wholly God-inspired established word, which we have as the holy Scripture.
In conclusion, while Johnson can be lacking somewhat in wisdom, in which as shown here, honesty with some can result in overreactionary responses by both the Left and some on the Right - in this case a money-making (Join our ad-free Substack community to read and post comments, beginning at $5.99 a month) false accuser, yet we should consider him to literally be an answered prayer, esp. considering the extreme rarity of any actual Christian being in politics on the national level. Sadly, Johnson is the only one I can point to.

True.
My father was a minister in the Assemlies of God church.
There was a singing group that attended his church, father and 2 sons. They ended up touring the country visiting churches and put out a few albums.
The family was back and we were having Sunday after church dinner when he told everyone God told him where they should minister and listed off the locations, Florida, Southern California and Hawaii.
I was only like 10 but I thought to myself, weird that God wants him in warm climates.
