A woman who claims she was sexually abused by her bishop father and was paid $300k by the Mormon church is now speaking out to keep others safe.

Chelsea Goodrich said when she was a child her father, John Goodrich, a former bishop in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly referred to as the Mormon church, had routinely abused her.

She says he climbed into her bed in a state of arousal on multiple occasions during her childhood.

She told Mormon church leaders and now says they paid her $300,000 to settle potential claims and to delete her recordings of meetings about the abuse.

Her father is still a free man, working as a dentist in Idaho. She is now speaking out about her situation so others don't face the same fate.

'Right now, my main concern continues to be other children,' Goodrich said.

Her story comes after DailyMail.com exposed significant abuses in the church, where leaders allegedly covered up years of rampant sexual abuse and incest.

The investigation revealed the church is facing legal action over allegations it has 'maintained a pattern and practice' of hiding abuse from authorities.

More than a dozen current and former members of the church have come forward with shocking claims of a culture of 'cover ups' - defying leaders who are alleged to have 'silenced' and 'threatened' those who speak out.

In the spring of 2015, Chelsea Goodrich, then a 29-year-old graduate student in psychology living in Southern California, began to confront disturbing memories.

While her peers dated and created lasting relationships, she filled with anxiety and dread at the prospect.

'Instead of wanting to have a relationship, I just remember feeling terror and confusion and kind of disgust, like all at once, about it,' she said.
