BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — A former youth pastor and kindergarten teacher in Morganton is facing new charges after being accused of participating in sex crimes that involve children.
Deputies with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office said Aaron Mirtsching was charged on Wednesday with 15 counts of indecent liberties with a child.
In August 2023, Mirtsching was arrested and was facing 10 counts of indecent liberties with a minor.
Until last summer, Mirtsching worked at New Dimensions Charter School in Morganton.
He also worked as a youth pastor at Thrive Church, but was fired after they learned of the arrest.

That’s right. This false pastor needs a milestone placed around his neck so we can toss him into the sea 🌊.
Honestly? I should just do posts about “youth pastors” being charged and sent to the big house. There are so many of them.
Suspension would have been better but I understand their motives.
If he should turn out to be innocent, (and for people who say but there are so many charges it must be true I have seen otherwise so ok) then he should be hired back with apologies.
But his life will never been the same.
These scum should be terminated with extreme prejudice immediately.

He looks like a wicked child molester. People who are that fat and ugly rarely are up to any good. The church needs its head examined.
I agree with you and I’m shocked he was hired to teach Kindergarten. That, grade and pre school are jobs mostly women take.
Men don’t teach class until you get to Junior and Senior high and most of them either double as coaches or are looking to work their way up to higher positions out of the classroom.
I had to post it. This is the first story ever I’ve come across of a male Kindergarten teacher. I would have raised an eyebrow at him being hired for the role to begin with.
Wish someone could find a common factor in these cases…
I remember a Youth Pastor who taught teens. He said the toughest part of his job was when some of the young teen girls threw themselves at him.
Another church down the road just removed their youth pastor for the same reason.
