Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Acts 20
Through Macedonia and Greece
20 When the uproar had ended, Paul sent for the disciples and, after encouraging them, said goodbye and set out for Macedonia. 2 He traveled through that area, speaking many words of encouragement to the people, and finally arrived in Greece, 3 where he stayed three months. Because some Jews had plotted against him just as he was about to sail for Syria, he decided to go back through Macedonia. 4 He was accompanied by Sopater son of Pyrrhus from Berea, Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica, Gaius from Derbe, Timothy also, and Tychicus and Trophimus from the province of Asia. 5 These men went on ahead and waited for us at Troas. 6 But we sailed from Philippi after the Festival of Unleavened Bread, and five days later joined the others at Troas, where we stayed seven days.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
How Hallowed is Your Name!
Thank You For Your Creation,
Thank You For Your Precious Gifts!
Thank You For Your Profound Imagination,
Thank You For The Beauty of The Earth,
And Thank You For Your Blessings every day.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Just last Tuesday, I was talking to Dave, a musician friend, about the book "1984". Both of us had read the book nearly 60 years ago, and never forgot it. His memory was:
"Under the spreading chestnut tree,
I sold you, and you sold me."
My memory was more visual: it was the scene in the Cafeteria of the Ministry of Truth, and the memory was triggered by a visit to a Chipotle Restaurant.
Yesterday, I was directed to a You Tube Video that was over THREE HOURS long. It was a faithful narration of the Book of Acts, but it was presented with actors speaking the conversations and speeches. The narration was provided by actor Dean Jones, playing the role of Dr. Luke, on board a ship headed to Rome. Here it is. Thank you, Metmom, for providing the link. The depiction is so accurate that the Chapter and Verse numbers are clicking away down in the lower right-hand corner. I am confident that nothing was left out, and nothing weird added.
This confidence comes from the fact that I read The Book of Acts through once a month. I've been doing this for years, so it's practically memorized.
The human memory is an amazing thing. Last night, I watched a version of "The Mikado" as performed by the Pacific Opera Project. Even though the costumes and sets were terrible, the singers and orchestra were excellent. You could tell that they were having a fun time doing the opera. However, because I have been listening to "The Mikado" since I was ten years old, I was aware of every truncated song, every deletion, and every changed lyric. (Now, there is always room for one or two topical lyric changes in the comic songs, such as putting Bill Gates or Elon Musk onto KoKo's "Little List", but whole verses were changed, which I DON'T like!) Sometimes I think that the producers do this to keep the fanatics (like me) from singing along. Some people will say that it's no longer necessary to memorize anything, as one can call up any information one wants on a smart phone. Just this week, I was called upon to play guitar during a song by The Moody Blues called "Nights in White Satin". This isn't an ordinary chord progression, and I hadn't played the song in 60 years, so our host accessed the chords on a tablet, and it went off without a hitch. As soon as I started playing it, however, it all came back to me.
I, for one, can tell you EVERYTHING about where I was, whom I was with, and even how I felt on November 22nd, 1963 (The Assassination of JFK), or February 9th 1964 (The First Appearance of the Beatles on American TV), or, of course, the sunny morning of September 11th, 2001. Some of our older readers remember hearing about Pearl Harbor, The Atomic Bomb, and other earth-shattering events. We can pinpoint such events by the impact they made upon our lives.
That being said, let's look again at this brief Passage from the Book of Acts. It gives us clear statements of Who, Where, and When, and rings as a true testimony. These names may not mean much to people now, but they validate The Book of Acts as a True Witness. Dr. Luke tells us the story of the early Church with surgical precision, and makes it UNFORGETTABLE.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

We’ve become so reliant on smart technology and the internet that it seems memorization of things is no longer necessary, until the internet shuts down. Then what will people do? Many will freak out.
Also thanks to you and metmom for sharing the Acts movie link. I can’t wait to play it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q5bTIUrUw0M

I’m working on memorizing Scripture.
It comes inn very handy when you’re busy and can’t take time out to just read. You can always recite.

Psalm 14
To the leader. Of David.
1 Fools say in their hearts, ‘There is no God.’
They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds;
there is no one who does good.
2 The Lord looks down from heaven on humankind
to see if there are any who are wise,
who seek after God.
3 They have all gone astray, they are all alike perverse;
there is no one who does good,
no, not one.
4 Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers
who eat up my people as they eat bread,
and do not call upon the Lord?
5 There they shall be in great terror,
for God is with the company of the righteous.
6 You would confound the plans of the poor,
but the Lord is their refuge.
7 O that deliverance for Israel would come from Zion!
When the Lord restores the fortunes of his people,
Jacob will rejoice; Israel will be glad.
