Comedian Rob Schneider converts to Catholicism, vows to show 'Christ's forgiveness'
Christian Post ^ | 11/13/2023 | Ryan Foley

A famous comedian has announced his conversion to Catholicism and repentance for what he characterized as a failure to show “Christ’s forgiveness” to those he disagreed with.

Rob Schneider, a “Saturday Night Live” alumnus known for starring in the comedy movies “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo” and “The Animal” as well as his multiple appearances in Adam Sandler movies, announced on X on Oct. 31 that he had converted to Catholicism. Schneider’s post, which coincided with his 60th birthday, began with a declaration that “I am the luckiest man in the world” and featured shout-outs to his wife, Patricia, and their three daughters, Elle, Miranda and Madeleine.

I want thank ALL of the lovely people for their kind birthday wishes for me today on my 60th birthday.
I am the luckiest man in the world.

I have a wonderful partner in life, my beautiful wife Patricia and three lovely daughters; Elle, Miranda and Madeline.

Today, I am reminded of what Dr. M Scott Peck told me over 30 years ago: At 40, you feel like you can conquer the world and there’s a sense that nothing can stop you.

But at 60 you realize the very real fragility of life and temporariness of it all. A humbling knowledge that there is indeed a time limit for all things and that God’s design though perfect, is precious far beyond its brevity.

Today, I am also reminded of the Hindu story that my friend Bill from Lowell Arkansas told me about a man at his funeral. Looking at the man, “Would this man lying here ask for more riches and Gold from the world? Would this man ask to be more famous and well regarded by others? Would he ask to be taller or look more handsome? No. The only thing this man lying here today would ask for was much simpler…more time.”

If you are reading this now, then you too have time! Use it wisely, use it unwisely too! But USE it. Be IN it. Be aware that you are part of ALL of it and that the separateness you sometimes feel is an illusion. Just as your heart beats without being told, you are as integral to the Sun that fires and the planets that circle it as your heart is a part of you.

For the atheists, God loves you too. The mistake you make is to think the universe is a stupid thing that just bumps into things and expands ignorantly and without reason or intelligence.

And that somehow we human beings, with our intelligence is just some kind of ‘freak’ universal accident.

To you I say this, if there is such a thing as kindness, empathy, compassion and love…it is because you found it in other people. And as my dear friend Norm Macdonald once said, “We are part of this universe, indeed a mere fraction of it, so if we have kindness and love, how much more the universe itself.” For if we are capable of love, it is because it is endemic to the universe itself.

To quote Alan Watts, “For we didn’t come ‘in’ to the world, we came ‘out’ of it. We are the universe evolving to the point of consciousness, so that the universe, us, can experience existence and life in all it’s wonder and beauty and glorious exuberance.”

Lastly, as I am a new convert to Catholicism, I offer my apology for my lack of Christ’s forgiveness to my fellow man.

I was so angry at the people who shut down schools and indeed the world and who coerced others to do things against their will which hurt many people deeply. I offer my unconditional forgiveness and amnesty.

For how can I stay mad at the famous singer who would not let others in to his Broadway show unless they had an experiential jab. I will never forget how kind he was to me and my friends when he was the musical guest on SNL. How can I continue to hold a grudge against the actor who shamed people like me but has been such a great example for other actors to never give up and keep fighting for their dreams.

How can I still be mad at the lovely actress that said she could no longer be friends with people like me who didn’t ‘get’ it, knowing how incredibly kind she is with every child she meets.

I am humbled by the example of my mother Pilar and how she was able to forgive the WW2 occupiers of her Philippines who killed both her brothers.

At last it is forgiveness itself that is the gift that we give ourselves because it frees us as The Christ intends for all of us to be free.

For His gift of ultimate and unlimited forgiveness is indeed the gift for all humanity.

May God bless you and your families now and forever.

With all my “You can do it” love, Robbie Schneider

“Today I am reminded of what Dr. M Scott Peck told me over 30 years ago: At 40, you feel like you can conquer the world and there’s a sense that nothing can stop you,” he wrote. “But at 60 you realize the very real fragility of life and [the] temporariness of it all. A humbling knowledge that there is indeed a time limit for all things and that God’s design though perfect, is precious far beyond its brevity.”

Toward the end of his post, Schneider told his followers, “I am a new convert to Catholicism.” The comedian indicated that his new faith had changed his perspective on life, as he offered “my apology for my lack of Christ’s forgiveness to my fellow man.”

“I was so angry at the people who shut down the schools and indeed the world and coerced others to do things against their will which hurt many people deeply,” he recalled. “I offer my unconditional forgiveness and amnesty.”

Schneider outlined several examples of people he believes need forgiveness without naming them directly. “How can I stay mad at the famous singers who would not let others into his Broadway show unless they had an experimental jab,” he asked, referring to the COVID-19 shots. “I will never forget how kind he was to me and my friends when he was the musical guest on SNL.”

“How can I continue to hold a grudge against the actor who shamed people like me but has been such a great example for other actors to never give up and keep fighting for their dreams. How can I still be mad at the lovely actress that said she could no longer be friends with people like me who didn’t ‘get’ it, knowing how incredibly kind she is with every child she meets.”

Schneider said he was “humbled” by his Filipino-born mother, Pilar, who “was able to forgive the [World War] 2 occupiers of her Philippines who killed both her brothers.”

He added, “It is forgiveness itself that is the gift that we give ourselves because it frees us as Christ intends for all of us to be free. For His gift of ultimate and unlimited forgiveness is indeed the gift for all humanity.”

The comedian concluded his message by stating, “May God bless you and your families now and forever.” Even before he went public with his new experience as a Catholic, Schneider has emerged as one of the more vocal conservatives in Hollywood in recent years.

Earlier this year, Schneider repeatedly weighed in on LGBT-related issues on his X account. In an April 19 post on X, which was known as Twitter at the time, Schneider reacted to a story about a female athlete “getting spiked in the face by a male competing with the women.”

“This sh– has to stop,” he said at the time. “If the parents, coaches, and ‘women’ athletes ALL REFUSE TO PLAY against these men …IT ALL STOPS!”

Two weeks earlier, on April 4, Schneider shared his thoughts on a video featuring the director of Boston Children’s Hospital’s Gender Multispecialty Service, maintaining that “a child will often know that they are transgender from the moment they have any ability to express themselves.”

The woman pointed to “trying on [an opposite sex] sibling’s clothing” and “playing with ‘opposite gender’ toys” as well as “girls ‘trying to stand to urinate’” as examples of young children identifying themselves as members of the opposite sex born in the wrong body.

“If kids put their arms sideways and run around the room they might be airplanes!” he sarcastically suggested in response to the video. Schneider’s advocacy against body mutilating sex-change surgeries, puberty blockers and opposite-sex hormones on minors dates back to at least last year, when he told Blaze Media host Glenn Beck that the genital mutilating surgeries amount to a “crime against humanity.”

There you go again - using Scripture to prove your point.

See how all of the prots have come out from under the rocks to protest one man’s conversion to Catholicism.

See how all of the Catholics have climbed up on the roof to proclaim Catholicism as the ONLY way to heaven.

I get it. It's called Pride.

'When I tell you what imagery found in Scripture REALLY means,'
the magnificant Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather superior tone,
' it means just whomever I choose it to mean, neither more nor less;
but sometimes two or more different things at once.'

'The question is,' said Alice, 'whether you can define imagery to mean so many different things.'

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, C.SS.R, S.S.L., O.F.M, S.T.D 'which is to be master - that's all.'

You mean like we were when Francis first got elected and we were warning Catholics about him?

I admire your love of Christ and Knowledge of His Word.

But all the intricacies of your explanation, with questions about which language the Holy Spirit chose and confusion about stone and rock, reinforce my belief that there is an inherent flaw in “Sola Scriptura.” Namely, that all these debates have led to tens of thousands of “Christian” sects, denominations, and even cults, claiming to base their faith entirely on Scripture, with the aid of the Holy Spirit.

But if the Holy Spirit is leading all these apparently sincere believers to believe what they believe, shy don’t they all believe the same things?

“Not all have the gift of the interpretation of Scripture.” Today’s disunity of Christ’s Body is testament to that.

Wouldn’t Jesus prefer if His Church was One, as He so often prayed? And if he wanted One Church, would he not establish it so that the Gates of Hell would not prevail against it?

And would not that Church, holding the keys to the Kingdom, and the power to bind and loose, be the one to whom he sent the Paraclete to show them all Truth, so that there would be a Unity of understanding of those Scriptures? On the road to Emmaus, he didn’t read the scriptures to the disciples, He explained them to them.

They all knew the words perfectly well, but He had to open their eyes to the meaning(s). Today, many believers know the scriptures very well, far better than a sinner like me does. But I spent years looking for the Truth and who could explain the Scriptures to me. I have had more than one personal encounter with Jesus, but there were so many permutations of the faith that I never found fellowship I could be comfortable with.

It finally dawned on me (was revealed) that there could only be on Church, one teaching Authority, and one faith, as God Himself is One, and as Jesus commanded us to be one. There is only one candidate for that institution, which can trace it’s succession all the way back to the Apostles.

I pray daily for the Unity of the Body of Christ. May we all come back together soon in these perilous times.

It is an amazing time to be alive, is it not?

The problem with the appeal to what was handed down is Rome cannot legitimately make that claim as they’ve departed from Scripture on so many issues. The Marian dogmas being among the biggest departure.

OTOH...

My belief is that there is an inherent flaw in "Tradition; too!” Namely, that all POWER supposedly rests with ROME, claiming to base it's teachings entirely on Scripture, with the aid of a bunch of men voting, who were theoretically led by the Holy Spirit.

Who; from the evidence (seven churches in Asia); did not do a very good job.

Why even apparitions have to come from Heaven(?) to fill in more of the blanks.

The Marian dogmas being among the biggest departure.

While the rosary, the
Memorare, and other prayers are wonderfully powerful ways to intercede for others, Our Blessed Mother decided, in 1840, to help us get a little more creative in regards to how we pray for healing and spiritual conversion for the people in our lives.

 https://www.romancatholicman.com/guide-green-scapular-powerful-devotion-covert-operations/

Exactly six years later, Mary appeared again, and Sr. Justine asked her these important questions. Our Lady’s reply was surprisingly simple and rather intriguing:

“This scapular is not like others [it is not based on a religious habit] but merely two holy images on a single piece of material. Therefore, no special formula is required to bless it or enroll someone in its use. It suffices that it be blessed by a Catholic priest and worn by the one whom we desire to benefit by Our Lady’s intercession. If, on the other hand, the person is unable, or even unwilling, to wear it or carry it, it may even be slipped, unknown to them, into their clothes, possessions, home or work environments, etc."

...Namely, that all POWER supposedly rests with ROME...

1 Kings 19:10, 18

10 And he answered: With zeal have I been zealous for the Lord God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant: they have thrown down thy altars, they have slain thy prophets with the sword, and I alone am left, and they seek my life to take it away.
.
.
.

18 And I will leave me seven thousand men in Israel, whose knees have not been bowed before Baal, and every mouth that hath not worshipped him kissing the hands.

And there are some on these threads who wear that man-made idol and trust in it rather than the promises of Christ. This is but one reason Christians condemn Roman Catholicism.

There was no mention of repentance or profession of faith in a Christ. But as Rome has added to the Gospel, which means it’s a false Gospel, he’s joined the wrong denomination.

I don’t know what’s in his heart (neither do you).

A missing testimony doesn’t mean there isn’t one.

It’s best not to judge the salvation of someone else. But it’s okay to examine ourselves.

I say all that in the context of the individual - not Roman Catholicism - THAT we may judge freely because it is contrary to God’s plan of salvation.
