The manifesto should have been published without redaction or edit promptly. This is a public safety issue, the public should be aware of the killer’s mindset, profile, etc to make informed decisions.
Similarly, if any other segment of the population is committing a disproportionate level of crime it should be made common public knowledge.
That is being far too forgiving of Leatherwood, in my opinion.
Direct Responsibility is: "Everyone who participated in it, everyone who benefitted from it, everyone who supported it or made excuses for it.
When someone poisons a well, they don't need to know who the next person will be who drinks from the well. The poisoners are still responsible for the outcome.
Both Leatherwood, and Nashville’s new mayor, have a lot of personal baggage to hide in the Nashville Covenant murder case.
That’s why they’re both so desperate to hide the murderer’s “ manifesto”.
Unfortunately, not just one when you count the enablers in the SBC national leadership and staff. They are the ones permitting ELRC to propagate its extreme viewpoints. Like many in government and business, it was easier to just give in than push back strongly against the whining leftist ideologues. They are actually more execrable than the activists.

What law did he break specifically?
Charging someone with a felony as revenge or retribution or to silence someone is just WRONG. That is not what felony charges are for, to control those you don’t agree with or who do something which you don’t approve of.
So THAT'S the reason he's opposing it.
The manifesto would show that the real problem was the shooter, not the gun he/she/it carried.
