God is not mocked and will not be mocked. Those faking Christianity will be made known to all the world when the Lord returns. Do not be cast into the lake of fire at that great day of the Lord but in this salvation hour, while the gospel trumpet still sounds, repent of your sins, and cry out to the merciful God. He will have mercy!
Warnings for those who would pretend to wait for Christ’s Return (The Foolish Virgins)
Here is the scene of the text from Matthew 25:1-13. Inside the Kingdom of Heaven (the visible church) there are ten virgins. They have all been told that the Lord will return soon, to be ready, to watch, to pray. Jesus said, “and Behold, I am coming quickly” (Revelation 22:10).

“Perhaps the foolish virgins desired the peace which the Christian possesses, but they despised the Prince of Peace.”
No, the text says they were virgins, and foolish. That does not mean they were not Christians.
Paul would have probably called them “carnal” Christians.
Thx!
This is very well thought out and well written. I have been appalled to find “sisters” with whom I have worshipped, prayed, and studied, voting for Biden and supporting Palestinian terrorists against Israel. YHWH keeps laying down dividing lines and folks fall out like sheep and goats on the right and on the left. We are surely nearing the harvest.

The Parable Of The Ten Virgins

Exactly.
The first verse tells us that the ten virgins are waiting to go into heaven. At this point, we understand that they all have to be “Christian.” By this time, any non-Christians are already learning what “weeping and gnashing of teeth” means.
Then we learn some virgins are wise, others are foolish. How will this parable continue? Will it be the case that we will learn that even foolish Christians will barely squeeze into heaven?
No. We will learn that there are those who appear to be “Christians” but they are so far from the bulls-eye that the Lord never knew them as disciples. The lesson is to choose to be a wise Christian.
I think it is possible that the foolish Christians initially became authentic Christians by doing exactly what the Lord commanded. Later, they slacked off and broke their relationship with the Lord.
In this parable, the Lord took the liberty of placing persons who will be judged harshly with the company of persons who will be welcomed into heaven. Well, for one verse anyway.
“I think it is possible that the foolish Christians initially became authentic Christians by doing exactly what the Lord commanded. Later, they slacked off and broke their relationship with the Lord.”
That may be what you think, but there is no hint of that in the verses. And it says nothing about the foolish virgins only desired to look like wise virgins.
One of a most respected theologian I read refused to go into the meaning of that parable, says he did not know what the parable meant, I don’t, and I suppose no one does now.
Jack Kelley ping for the win!
I miss Jack.
