Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

John 20
Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene
11 Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12 and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.
13 They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?”
“They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” 14 At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.
15 He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?”
Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.”
16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.”
She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”).
17 Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
18 Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Lord and Heavenly Father
You Are The Living God,
My Rock and My Redeemer!
My Deliverer!
You are The God of My Salvation,
My Refuge,
My Rescue,
My Strong Tower, My Fortress!
And You Promise Us You will Not Depart from Your People
You Alone Are The God Who Saves Us.
You Alone are the One True God Over All!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Today, several stories will come together at the end, so be patient.
1. The Inspection: Florida doesn't have Mandatory Annual Vehicle Inspections, but Massachusetts sure does. From the depth of the tire tread to a defective windshield wiper, a failed inspection is loudly advertised by a colorful sticker on your windshield that will get your car impounded if you drive around with it. Motorcycles are no exception. They too must pass a Safety Inspection every year.
After sixteen years of riding in Florida without inspections, I knew I had to get this little task done before I could legally ride around in Massachusetts. And so, I went to the gas station which was authorized to do Inspection Stickers.
They said they didn't do Motorcycles. So I went to the next "Authorized Location". Up and down the highway, station after station, I went, only to be refused. Then I saw a beautiful decked-out chopper parked in front of a Mattress Store. It had a Sticker on it! I strode into the store still in my leathers, helmet and sunglasses, and asked WHERE did the guy get his sticker!
Somewhat reluctantly, the guy in the store gave me an address as if it were a State Secret. It wasn't too far away so I went to the place, which was at the far end of an Industrial Park. Al, the Mechanic there told me that I had been riding around with NO REAR BRAKES. Evidently, I had adjusted my riding style with slowing down, downshifting, and feathering the Front Brakes in order to stop. I didn't even realize I had been doing that! I could not get a sticker without a Rear Brake Job, so I left the bike with Al, and got a ride home. A few days later, the bike was ready, and Al gave me the old brake pads to show me how bad it was. They were totally clean of any asbestos, and the brakes had been metal-on-metal for a long time. I took the old brake pads home, and painted Angel Wings on them to remind me of how close I had come to death, and thanked God for putting His angels over me. I go to Al every year for Inspections, but don't have much other opportunity to see him because my Bike is like the Energizer Bunny. Despite its advanced age, it keeps going and going and going.
2. Praying With Neighbors: M., my neighbor, was having a really hard time of it lately. She has lost a lot of family members, and now her partner J. was being picked up by the EMTs several times a month. A life of heavy smoking has caught up with J. and now she has been diagnosed with COPD. Now, M. has chosen a whole different lifestyle than I have, but she knows that I will pray with her when she is troubled. Last Tuesday she came over and asked for prayer. I picked up the Brake Pad that was lying on the end-table and told her the story behind it. That Brake Pad has sat there on that end table for seven years, but the story was still fresh in my mind. M. who is an old Biker, was greatly comforted by this story and is learning to trust in the One True God.
3. Open Mike Nite: My Sister Patty goes to more Open Mikes than I do, but TUESDAYS are firmly entrenched. I always go to the one on Tuesday. There is a slightly different crowd at each Open Mike, and Patty has met more people than I have. Evidently, on the previous Monday, she had met a nice man who did Country Music Karaoke and wore a cowboy hat (in Massachusetts! LOL). Monday, she got into a big discussion with him about her present situation, the Nursing Home, our Saturday trips to visit her husband, etc. She also filled him in on the other Open Mikes in the area, so he could continue to practice his singing in front of a friendly audience.
Just this past Tuesday, the man in the cowboy hat came to the Open Mike. He went up to Patty and gave her a hug. Then he stared at me...He looked SO FAMILIAR! I knew I knew him but couldn't place where. Patty introduced me as her Sister.
I struggled to recall how I knew this man. I didn't know anyone who wore a Cowboy Hat! Who could this man be?
Then I remembered the Brake Pad with the Angel Wings painted on it, that I had shared with M. that very afternoon when I prayed for her. The Man In The Cowboy Hat was Al, my Mechanic! We ended up sitting together all evening talking about Music, Motorcycles, and The Second Amendment (He's a Licensed Firearms Instructor.)
At this rate I may develop a taste for Country Music! (or maybe not.)
This story is all about context. I never expected my Motorcycle Mechanic to show up at an Irish Pub on Open Mike Nite wearing a Cowboy Hat. Al never expected to see a customer of his wearing anything but a Leather Jacket, Sunglasses and a Helmet. Out of context, both of us had to puzzle out the connection. (It was bizarre though, that, earlier , that very afternoon, I had picked up the Brake Pad and told the story.)
When we see or hear something that is unbelievable, our logical minds struggle to come up with a logical explanation. This is actually a GOOD thing, otherwise we would misinterpret nearly EVERYTHING as "magical". We may think that this is a modern, enlightened quality, but look at Mary Magdalene! She has seen the empty tomb, and assumes that The Lord's body has been stolen. Then she sees the Lord Himself and thinks He's the gardener. The second that Jesus says her name she knows! And then, the first thing she does is tell the Disciples, who are also slow to accept the Truth.
The point I am making is that Mary Magdalene thought Jesus was the gardener until He spoke to her. I thought that Jesus was a great Teacher, Philosopher, "ascended master" or maybe a space alien before He spoke to me!
Nobody comes to the Father except through Jesus, and nobody comes to Jesus unless he is drawn by The Holy Spirit. All we can do is Pray, and, of course, give our own Testimony. (show them the Brake Pads). No amount of Asbestos will keep you from the fires of hell, but we don't have any of our own. It's steel against steel with no brakes into the Abyss, until Jesus lifts you up out of it.
So we shouldn't be harsh with Mary M. because she didn't believe right away. Jesus even said that we could not believe unless the Father draw him or her. So, "Today, when you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts..."
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.

Amen !!! <><
Psalm 146
1 Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
2 I will praise the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praises to my God all my life long.
3 Do not put your trust in princes,
in mortals, in whom there is no help.
4 When their breath departs, they return to the earth;
on that very day their plans perish.
5 Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord their God,
6 who made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that is in them;
who keeps faith for ever;
7 who executes justice for the oppressed;
who gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets the prisoners free;
8 the Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down;
the Lord loves the righteous.
9 The Lord watches over the strangers;
he upholds the orphan and the widow,
but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.
10 The Lord will reign for ever,
your God, O Zion, for all generations.
Praise the Lord!
