Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

John 17
Jesus Prays for All Believers
20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.
25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you[e] known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Praise Your Name,
Oh Heavenly Father
King of Kings,
And Lord of Lords!
You are The God of Glory,
The Epitome of Power
The Peak of Authority,
There Is No One Like You!
Your Glory thunders like many Waters,
You Are So AWESOME!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

This is the conclusion of the part of Jesus' Prayers in the Garden of Gethsemane that John records for us. However, the Gospels tell us that Jesus agonized in prayer for hours, as even His closest Disciples drifted in and out of sleep.
Sometimes it is very easy to drift off to sleep, and other times, not so easy.
Last Night, I went to bed at a decent hour, but couldn't fall asleep, as I had so many things on my mind. Yesterday's story (about the retro folk singers) brought back many memories of that era of the 1960's and the false teachings and attitudes of that time which have brought us to the situations we face today.
Although the American Left goes all the way back to the turn of the 20th Century, it gained a foothold in the 60's and was nurtured in Academia, Hollywood, and the Media, gradually changing how people in America think, act, and vote. What was normal ten years ago is now an actionable offense, and what was offensive is now pushed down the throats of pre-schoolers.
Movies, Music, Sitcoms, and Advertising promote sexual excess, and then pulls the rug out from underneath anyone who bought into it. Patriotism is called "Racism", and Religion is called "Fanaticism."
I even saw an article about a man who lost his job because of something his FATHER allegedly said over twenty years ago. We are truly living in the times described by Isaiah when he said:
Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter.(Isaiah 5:20 New International Version (NIV)
It's easy to get caught up in this stuff and become really upset. We want to pray, but don't have the words. Jesus approaches Prayer in ways that can help us. He has, of course, given us The Lord's Prayer, which we can either say or use as a pattern to guide us. He also gives us this portion of His long night of prayer in the Garden.
First, he prays for God to be Glorified. Some situations look really awful, but like the man who was born blind, and the eventual arrest, false conviction, and execution of Jesus, these horrible situations may be the prelude to an incredible Miracle. We must never lose sight of that.
Next, Jesus prays for His Disciples. These are the men who will go forward and be the Leaders of the New Faith. They are going to need some extraordinary Blessings to get through what is down the road.
Then He prays for US. He prays that we be kept from evil, that we are sheltered from the vicious storms of life. Most of all, though, he prays for our Unity. This is a unity based upon Truth, not the wishy-washy coexistence of bumper stickers.
When you think of it like that, both the Ten Commandments and the Lord's Prayer are presented in similar order. In the first few lines of both of these great Passages, we give Glory to God. The following Passages in both refer to our relationships with others and our behavior to one another. The Big Ten tells us what NOT to do, and the Lord's Prayer tells us what we MUST do. Both are dependent upon God's provision. We don't have to covet, because God provides "our daily bread". We must NOT bear False Witness, and we Forgive those who have sinned against us. It's all connected.
Perhaps if I had listened to my own "preaching" I would have gotten a better night's sleep! LOL!
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Psalm 116
1 I love the Lord, because he has heard
my voice and my supplications.
2 Because he inclined his ear to me,
therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
3 The snares of death encompassed me;
the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me;
I suffered distress and anguish.
4 Then I called on the name of the Lord:
‘O Lord, I pray, save my life!’
5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
our God is merciful.
6 The Lord protects the simple;
when I was brought low, he saved me.
7 Return, O my soul, to your rest,
for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.
8 For you have delivered my soul from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling.
9 I walk before the Lord
in the land of the living.
10 I kept my faith, even when I said,
‘I am greatly afflicted’;
11 I said in my consternation,
‘Everyone is a liar.’
12 What shall I return to the Lord
for all his bounty to me?
13 I will lift up the cup of salvation
and call on the name of the Lord,
14 I will pay my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all his people.
15 Precious in the sight of the Lord
is the death of his faithful ones.
16 O Lord, I am your servant;
I am your servant, the child of your serving-maid.
You have loosed my bonds.
17 I will offer to you a thanksgiving sacrifice
and call on the name of the Lord.
18 I will pay my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all his people,
19 in the courts of the house of the Lord,
in your midst, O Jerusalem.
Praise the Lord!
