Scripture never says that Scripture is the sole infallible authority for God’s Word. Scripture also mandates the use of tradition.

What happens when ‘tradition’ conflicts with Scripture?

4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

This is the crux of the matter.
The Pharisees also followed traditions and were very pious and observant to those traditions handed down over hundreds of years. So much so they couldn’t even see the Son of God in their very midst.
