Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

John 12

Jesus Anointed at Bethany

12 Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 2 Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. 3 Then Mary took about a pint[a] of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

4 But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, 5 “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.[b]” 6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.

7 “Leave her alone,” Jesus replied. “It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. 8 You will always have the poor among you,[c] but you will not always have me.”

9 Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. 10 So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, 11 for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Lord and Our God
You Are the Living God
You Are The Same Yesterday,
Today, and Forever.
You Are Our Anchor.
You Never Change,
There is No Shadow of Turning With You
We Can Always Count on You.
Let us Trust You with All We Have and with Everything We Are.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

We have read the Story of the woman anointing Jesus in the other three Gospels. This incident appears to be the same one as in Matthew and Mark, but not Luke, as that describes a different woman and a different dinner. In context we see that this anointing occurred AFTER Lazarus was raised from the dead. So there was Lazarus, alive again and having a meal with his friends including Jesus and His Disciples. Considering what just had taken place, ALL of them should have been on the floor, worshiping. But then, Judas makes his stupid, self-righteous, virtue-signaling remark, even though at that very moment, he was plotting betrayal and death for his Master.

John, the Beloved Disciple, was also indulging in a bit of "Virtue Signaling". He wants to let us know:

"I knew he was a crook all along!"

But, is John implying that Jesus had made a mistake appointing Judas as Treasurer for the group? Did John think he had special insight into Judas that Jesus didn't have?

Before we go condemning John, let us look at ourselves. How many times have we said:

"I knew he was a crook (traitor, communist, right-wing nut, liar, thief, coward, etc) all along!"

If we knew, why didn't we do or say something? Why didn't we do the appropriate action required to put a stop to whatever secret crimes were being committed? It could be fear, as we have seen what happens to Whistle-blowers. It could be that we don't want to upset the Status Quo. It could be because we have no power to change things, so we keep silent, or even cross into the area of appeasement. Whatever our action or inaction may be, it is never right to say:

"I knew it all along."

P.S. I have been guilty of this myself!

The only One who has the right to say that would be Someone who knows the End from the Beginning, and the Beginning from the End.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

***It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial.****

And Mary was the one disciple that got what Jesus saying when He told His disciples He was going to Jerusalem to die. And she was the only woman that didn’t waste her anointment and used it. The other women, too late, He was risen.

Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.

Psalm 92

A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath Day.

1 It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
2 to declare your steadfast love in the morning,
and your faithfulness by night,
3 to the music of the lute and the harp,
to the melody of the lyre.
4 For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work;
at the works of your hands I sing for joy.

5 How great are your works, O Lord!
Your thoughts are very deep!
6 The dullard cannot know,
the stupid cannot understand this:
7 though the wicked sprout like grass
and all evildoers flourish,
they are doomed to destruction for ever,
8 but you, O Lord, are on high for ever.
9 For your enemies, O Lord,
for your enemies shall perish;
all evildoers shall be scattered.

10 But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox;
you have poured over me* fresh oil.
11 My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies;
my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants.

12 The righteous flourish like the palm tree,
and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 They are planted in the house of the Lord;
they flourish in the courts of our God.
14 In old age they still produce fruit;
they are always green and full of sap,
15 showing that the Lord is upright;
he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
