Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

John 11

Jesus Comforts the Sisters of Lazarus

17 On his arrival, Jesus found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days. 18 Now Bethany was less than two miles[b] from Jerusalem, 19 and many Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them in the loss of their brother. 20 When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home.

21 “Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.”

23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”

24 Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

27 “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

28 After she had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary aside. “The Teacher is here,” she said, “and is asking for you.” 29 When Mary heard this, she got up quickly and went to him. 30 Now Jesus had not yet entered the village, but was still at the place where Martha had met him. 31 When the Jews who had been with Mary in the house, comforting her, noticed how quickly she got up and went out, they followed her, supposing she was going to the tomb to mourn there.

32 When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”

33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. 34 “Where have you laid him?” he asked.

“Come and see, Lord,” they replied.

35 Jesus wept.

36 Then the Jews said, “See how he loved him!”

37 But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Lord and our God
You Are The Righteous Judge.
Your Judgements are Pure.
And They Are Always Upright and Correct.
You Are The Lawgiver,
And Your Law is Perfect.
You Are Our King.
You Execute Perfect Justice,
And Yet, You Are Merciful and Full of Lovingkindness,
Which Is Everlasting.
We Ask that our Judges,
Our Legislators,
And Our Executives open their hearts and minds to be guided by You,
That they may serve our Nation with Integrity.
We also lift up in Prayer the J6 Political Prisoners, and the Survivors of the Maui Inferno.
We Pray That TRUTH will Triumph and that all Nefarious Deeds will be uncovered.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

The Story of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus is only told in the Gospel of John. But we are introduced to the people involved in the Gospel of Luke. They were real people, and were dear friends of Jesus. They believed, but obviously struggled with some of the deeper concepts that have troubled even the most erudite theologians for thousands of years. This is the problem of evil: Why do nice people have horrible things happen to them, and the wicked people get away with murder?

Looking at the burn patterns on Maui, we see multi-million dollar homes spared the flames, while the little houses of residents, who worked three jobs just to pay the mortgage, reduced to ashes. Official estimates are that 87% of the destroyed structures in Lahaina were the homes of ordinary people, not fancy restaurants, hotels, or condos. This pattern was similar to the "Paradise" Fire of 2018, in which 95% of the structures were destroyed.

Yesterday, I suggested that perhaps Lazarus suffered from a chronic illness, and that his sisters gave up prospects of married life to become full-time caregivers. This is pure speculation on my part (and I promise I will ALWAYS tell you when I am doing that), but it does make sense. While "Today's Liberated Woman" might not view the life of Marriage and Family as all that important, it was VERY important in the time of Jesus. Mary and Martha, by remaining single to take care of their brother, were making a huge sacrifice. When he died, they became the same status as widows.

There was so much more to this than losing a beloved brother, as if that weren't bad enough. Neither Mary nor Martha had children to take care of them, and so they needed to depend entirely upon their Friend Jesus. He was on a Ministry Trip, and they sent messengers to Him right away, believing with all their hearts that Jesus could heal Lazarus. But He is delayed in coming back and Lazarus dies.

Both Mary and Martha believe that Jesus could have healed their Brother. They also believed in The Resurrection of the Dead in the Last Days. Their "Theology" was correct. But they still had bad things happen to them.

Jesus had healed before. He had given sight to the Blind, and caused the Deaf to Hear. He cleansed Lepers, and even raised a few people from the dead.

There was a superstition among the Jewish people of that time that a person's soul hung around for three days after death, but, by the fourth day, all hope is lost for any kind of revival. By allowing four days to go by before returning to the home of Mary and Martha, Jesus was making sure that people could not use their superstitions to explain away this Miracle. Martha was even hesitant to have the tomb opened, as she knew that decomposition would have begun, and that there would be a foul odor. And yet, she is obedient to Jesus and has the tomb opened.

The result is the Greatest Miracle of Jesus prior to His Own Resurrection, and did NOT escape the notice of "The Powers That Be".

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

=_HEN when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.

Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:

And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.

Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.

Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.

Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.

As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.

Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.

The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.

Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled.

And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.

Jesus wept.

Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!

And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?

Psalm 41

To the leader. A Psalm of David.

1 Happy are those who consider the poor;*
the Lord delivers them in the day of trouble.
2 The Lord protects them and keeps them alive;
they are called happy in the land.
You do not give them up to the will of their enemies.
3 The Lord sustains them on their sickbed;
in their illness you heal all their infirmities.*

4 As for me, I said, ‘O Lord, be gracious to me;
heal me, for I have sinned against you.’
5 My enemies wonder in malice
when I will die, and my name perish.
6 And when they come to see me, they utter empty words,
while their hearts gather mischief;
when they go out, they tell it abroad.
7 All who hate me whisper together about me;
they imagine the worst for me.

8 They think that a deadly thing has fastened on me,
that I will not rise again from where I lie.
9 Even my bosom friend in whom I trusted,
who ate of my bread, has lifted the heel against me.
10 But you, O Lord, be gracious to me,
and raise me up, that I may repay them.

11 By this I know that you are pleased with me;
because my enemy has not triumphed over me.
12 But you have upheld me because of my integrity,
and set me in your presence for ever.

13 Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting.Amen and Amen.
