Yesterday we reported that Republicans in Tennessee surprisingly held the line in not passing gun control amidst the mounting pressure including from religious sources like the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention. The special legislative session called by Tennessee Governor Bill Lee ended without the gun control measures he wanted passed. As reported earlier this week:
This week their efforts to enact gun control were defeated as the House and Senate of Tennessee adjourned until January. The bills that were passed did not include gun control measures including so-called “red flag laws.”
While Christians activists in Tennessee are grateful for the stand, Christianity Today is coping and seething. In an article titled, Covenant Families Frustrated by Tennessee’s Failure to Pass New Gun Laws. The article frames the Covenant parents as monolithically in favor of gun control, despite the fact that their proposals would not have prevented the tragedy.
Christianity Today is running their propaganda campaign for liberal policies, as they are upset that gun control was not passed.
I wonder if they consulted with the criminals?
The TN gun control hysteria was genned up to smother the tranifesto story. One would think that Christian Today would like to know why the trans wanted to kill Christians. But no... I’m glad no gun control laws were passed in response to the school shooting.
This is not coming from the grass roots.
It is VERY obvious that the board members at “Christianity Today” are getting paid by the evil Puppet Biden regime to push the gun control agenda. They have become whores and prostitutes for 30 pieces of silver. Will they also push the homosexual agenda? Christians my ass. /spit
Christianity Today going to the dark side is more evidence that any institution can and will move leftward unless you closely control who is hired and who controls the board of directors. Remember that Harvard and Yale were started as what we would now call Bible colleges.
Not to mention Soros possibly as well.
Although not perfect, because it's run by humans, World doesn't worry about the Woke mafia. Biblical truth is Truth.
Good for TN R’s.
“red flag” laws are the worst, just written to be abused.
Not a fan of CT. Don’t trust them.
All the smart Christians are selling their cloaks in order to buy swords.
Yes. We here in TN aren’t going to surrender our rights in response to the shrill demands of gun grabbers. We ain’t doing it. Period. Not now. Not ever.
Molon labe.
Tennessee has pockets of Dems in the cities but our mostly rural state has a lot of red surrounding the blue. Even the Dem State Senators and Representatives know a vote for gun control is going to send them home. Bill Lee will not be reelected. The “Tennessee Three” are from solid blue districts but they’re loud. Thank God loud only has one vote.
Many of the Pioneer Preachers in Kentucky, including my great great grandmother Rebecca Henkel, took a rifle to here meetings, sometimes shot bear, sometimes someone who came to threaten, she stood it right next to the pulpit. 1799 21 miles East of St. Louis, all of her kids grew up to be Baptist Preachers. They called them Brush Arbor meetings.
When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. What is so hard to understand about this statement?
“selling their cloaks in order to buy swords.”
A lot of people miss that ....
gird your loins ... put on the whole armor .... it’s about to get real
Christianity Today my ass. Start paying taxes if you want to play politics. America has a PAY TO PLAY government! Idiots.
CT began leaning towards the religion of Socialism many years ago; they use their title as camouflage while nudging safety-pin believers into lukewarm apostasy.
We have no interest in the opinions of atheists masquerading as Christians.
All gun problems were solved back in 1968. The democrats said so themselves!
“Today we begin to disarm the criminal and the careless and the insane. All of our people who are deeply concerned in this country about law and order should hail this day.”-— Lyndon Johnson signing the 1968 gun control act into law.
And Thomas J. Dodd, who wrote the 1968 gun control act using the 1938 Nazi weapons law as a pattern...
“No one can predict how many lives will be spared because of this bill, but, if the bloody record of our yesterdays is any measure, millions of future Americans will live to enjoy the promise of many peaceful tomorrows.
I am grateful to have had the opportunity to play a part in this great moment in our time.”— Thomas J. Dodd on passage of the 1968 Gun control act.
As usual, gun laws do nothing to stop criminals. It simply makes politicians look like they are doing something without really doing anything to curb crime.
They peaked in 1993, then started coming down. They bottomed out about 2014-16, then the Obama racial division and Antifa defunding of police started, and the homicide rates have been going up for a few years.
