Beth Moore’s Bishop Responds to Iman Chanting Quran During Church’s Interfaith Dialogue: ‘It Was Not Appropriate….’
Protestia ^ | September 2, 2023 | staff

The presiding Bishop of Beth Moore’s church has released a statement about the video we published two days ago featuring a Muslim Iman chanting and teaching through a verse from the Quran from behind the pulpit during an interfaith dialogue, standing behind the decision to have the discussion in the first place, while acknowledging that it should have been done in a different setting, rather than the nave of the church.

In his message, which we have posted in full at the end, Bishop Clark WP Lowenfield explains that the Diocese has a ‘vibrant and robust’ campus ministry which has a focus on ministering to and sharing the gospel with Muslims. This ministry, which has the ‘spiritual DNA of being Biblically Orthodox, Evangelical, and Disciple forming,’ seeks to make relationships by ‘”nurturing understanding and acceptance among individuals, attempting to live out that truth that “others won’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”‘ Hence, the interfaith dialogue.

Most events that occur around this inter-faith dialogue are held in the academic or college campus setting. This past Saturday, a dialogue scheduled to discuss the subject of Forgiveness had to be scheduled in St. Timothy’s parish hall. Unfortunately, when the participants arrived, they discovered that there had been a scheduling conflict with a group in the parish.

Graciously, but perhaps naively, Fr. Nazir chose to not displace the other group meeting and moved the dialogue to the nave of the church. Obviously, in retrospect, Fr. Nazir recognizes that it was not appropriate to have such an event in the chancel of sacred space, as it is certainly more suited for the academic spaces it usually is held in.

This is a perfectly reasonable explanation. We did not kneecap the church when we first heard of it, contrary to what some may have surmised, and are satisfied with the Bishop’s assessment and remedy.

Full statement below:

“As the Bishop Ordinary of the Anglican Diocese of the Western Gulf Coast, let me give a clarification on a circumstance which occurred last Saturday at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church here in Houston regarding an Iman who spoke there as part of an inter-faith dialogue and which has had much attention on social media. “This Diocese has a vibrant and robust campus ministry to the internationally diverse University of Houston. This ministry is led by our Diocesan Evangelist, The Rev’d Nazir Masih who immigrated to the United States several years ago from Pakistan.

All ministries within this Diocese, including this campus ministry, have the spiritual DNA of being Biblically Orthodox, Evangelical, and Disciple forming. One element of this campus ministry is an inter-faith dialogue ministry which is committed to introducing Jesus and the Gospel to people from diverse backgrounds and fostering an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued. The ministry seeks to make relationships by nurturing understanding and acceptance among individuals, attempting to live out that truth that “others won’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”

“Most events that occur around this inter-faith dialogue are held in the academic or college campus setting. And as the Apostolic Overseer of this Diocese, and of this campus ministry, I can assure any and all that I do not consider this one, perhaps naïve decision, any reason to question our overall goals to reach international students at the University of Houston with the life-giving Gospel of our Lord Jesus, the hope which a discipled life in the Christian Faith brings, nor our common convictions concerning the use of sacred space.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at bishop@dwgc.org (mailto:bishop@dwgc.org) . In His peace,

Bishop Clark WP Lowenfield”

“Beth Moore’s Bishop Responds to Iman Chanting Quran During Church’s Interfaith Dialogue: ‘It Was Not Appropriate”

Interfaith services? I think the 6 Million Man March was an interface service. They had christians, islamists, Indian, native american, and other representatives all praying together as if that was the ultimate answer. Coexisting?

Another point is that while an Iman reciting the Quran during an interfaith service might seem inappropriate, what if a tongue talker started loudly babbling during a inter-denominational Christian sermon? It’s called Dogma, it’s infuriating but mankind seems fixed or creating their own little Dogma fiefdoms entrapping the unaware faithful. Dogma is a scourge.

I would make the imam write down in English or whatever the native language is exactly what he’ll be chanting or praying. Because most of the time they are condemning Christianity or other religions in Arabic. Never trust a muslim.

When a Muslim imam chants from the Quran in a Christian sacred space, he is claiming the space for Islam.

Would Muslims ever allow a Christian to preach the Gospels from the lectern of a mosque?

I think the term is “Imam”. “Iman” is David Bowie’s widow.

INTERFAITH NONSENSE !!!

I am the way, the truth, the life, no man comes to the Father but through ME!

Jesus isn't A way, A truth, A life. He is God incarnate and He is God's Word! Islam, Judaism, Hinduism .... are a lie because they deny the Truth! It's name is Jesus!

These dumbasses didn’t realize that the Imam was claiming ownership of the ground the Church sits on in the name of Allah..Right in front of them. I bet he ‘squared the grounds at some point’ (meaning that he walked a square around the grounds he was proclaiming).

Beth Moore is an evangelical author and speaker who has taught at conferences for women in various countries, including Ireland, England, Singapore, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and India. She has written books and produced video resources based on the Bible studies she conducts at the Living Proof Live conferences. In 2021, she left the Southern Baptist Convention and joined the Anglican Church in North America with her husband, Keith. In her memoir, All My Knotted Up Life, Moore describes finding a home in the Anglican church where the liturgy calls worshippers to lay down their burdens. Moore was a committed evangelical Southern Baptist and a superstar in the Southern Baptist Denomination, sharing her love of Jesus and the Bible with millions of evangelical women at Bible study gatherings across the country.
