All this changed, however, over the past century, as quantum physics and Einstein’s discoveries allowed us to peer into the sub-atomic level of our world. We soon discovered that by splitting atoms, we could unleash enough energy to destroy the world. We are now discovering that by fusing atoms, we can release even more energy. By splitting atoms and by combining atoms, we are re-engineering the basic model of nature.

I think man has. Lots of singularly focused scientists who want to push the limits without asking what could happen when the limits are pushed.
“he Torah obligates us “
No .... I don’t think so .. but
“dizzying 300 years of industrial and technological revolutions”
yes ... I agree .. but
“accelerated global warming,”
now they are back in the weeds ....
O here is it getting better ?
” re-engineer human DNA “
nope just a quick mention ..I thought he was about to get into the good stuff. You know reaching for the tree of life and such. But he pulled up short.
To sum it up....
“Solid roofs expanded human living space but also introduced the deadly hazard of falling off those roofs. “
He may own a roof fencing company.... I wonder ?
He is really concerned about those taller roofs.
Atheism is a natural and inseparable part of Marxism, of the theory and practice of scientific socialism. The left has always set up science (or as 1 Timothy 6:20 calls it, “science falsely so-called”) as a false god from the beginning, and their “general secretaries” as god-kings.
— Lenin, “Religion”, introduction
By splitting atoms and by combining atoms, we are re-engineering the basic model of nature. …No we are not. Happens all the time in the sun and other galactic phenomena. Our clumsy attempts merely result in highly-destructive energy release from time to time.
Agreed. As just one example out of many are the chimera being brought into existence by Chinese and Western madmen.
Furthermore, industrialization polluted our environment and accelerated global warming, the effects of which we are first beginning to suffer. …No thanks to this blog. Pimping is not worth it here.
That happened long ago
Knowledge without wisdom, as the Prophet Daniel predicted.
Yes and it continues. We are filling our cup.
There is nothing wrong with gaining knowledge.
One can gain knowledge without gaining wisdom. How one uses that knowledge is where we go wrong. Often one wants to use that knowledge to try to become god, like Eve did.
Fusion is a completely natural process. It is how our Sun (and other stars) generates light and heat.
Fission is likewise a complete natural process. The atoms of Potassium-40 in our bodies, for instance, will occasionally fission, releasing sub-atomic particles (and liberating energy).
Many of the atoms in the soil under our feet are radioactive, and occasionally break up into smaller atoms (= fission).
These are complete natural - one could even say: ordinary) - everyday occurrences.
Why should Man harnessing these natural processes to generate electricity be considered "against God's Order?"
I suppose that burning coal or building hydroelectric dams is also somehow an "offense" against the Divine Plan?!
Regards,
Both fission and fusion are natural processes. Even sustained chain-reaction fission is a natural process.
Yes.
Hogwash, who writes this crap? God gave us brains, use them.
Article lost me right here: “Furthermore, industrialization polluted our environment and accelerated global warming, the effects of which we are first beginning to suffer.”
Anyone who buys into man-made global warming or climate change simply has no credibility with me.
Science and technology have taken away many chores formerly done by humans. One effect is that children aren’t as valuable as they used to be.
