I'm not making a comment on the subject of this thread, but only on what Jesus said to Mary regarding the wine.

We know what Jesus said (we have a translation at any rate), but we weren't there and don't know the spirit in which Jesus said this to his mother.

For all we know, he had a twinkle in his eye when he said it (as opposed to having been offended).

What we do know is that Mary took this statement from Jesus as something quite different than it sounds.

Jesus said (paraphrased, of course), why are you bothering me about this? And his mother took his response as "Sigh, okay...where are some large empty wine jugs?" That's why her next response wasn't an apology, but a comment to the servants ("He'll tell you what to do...just follow his instructions").

As an aside, it's a wonderful story because we get more insight into Jesus's personality (which is obviously unique in all the world).

One additional point, we get some insight into Jesus's relationship with his mother. He made it quite clear--once again--that He's the boss. And Mary made it quite clear that she understand exactly why. She wasn't deterred by his mildly brusque comment. She acted like it was in character and just kept going, hence her turning to the servants and giving them instructions.

What a wonderful story.

Do you also believe Jesus was joking when He called Peter, “Satan?”

There’s not a thing in Scripture either that indicates what she was expecting Him to do about it, if anything.

Maybe she thought He’s send the servants out to buy more wine.

Maybe she was just in a tailspin and notified Him conversationally as you or I might to a friend or relative saying agahstly, *They ran out of wine! Can you believe it?*.
