Yes, it’s weird. I can’t believe I was in the RCC for as long as I was. I remember the no meat on Friday thing. I am not sure, but I heard a rumor, that the rationale behind that, was because many of the early Christians were fishermen., and it helped their businesses. I don’t know if that is true. It’s just a rumor I heard.
I remember I ate some meat 🥩 on Friday. I was so scared I had committed a mortal sin, and I had a horrible fear of hell, like many Catholics have, but are scared to admit it. Most of them fear Hell, and they should. It’s a hell of a place. I admit it up front. I was super scared of hell. After I left the Catholic Church, it was so I ingrained into my psyche, that I could lose my salvation, it took those guys about 2 months to clobber me upside the head, till I finally found assurance of salvation. Of course many Catholics think, ok, we are saved now, so we can go commit mortal sins galore, since we are saved. That is a lie, friend m the pit of hell, that has refuted about 97 billion times, even thought Elsie told me a trillion times, not to exaggerate. 😄😁

All you need to know.

*****

Church law on fasting has changed over the centuries since fasting is a discipline which may be altered by legitimate Church authorities.

******

There is no mandated day or way to fast. It is how the believer is lead by the Spirit.

How would you like to go a large part of the year without eating meat?!

THE
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
SECTION 89:12-13

Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Kirtland, Ohio, February 27, 1833. HC 1: 327–329. As a consequence of the early brethren using tobacco in their meetings, the Prophet was led to ponder upon the matter; consequently he inquired of the Lord concerning it. This revelation, known as the Word of Wisdom, was the result. The first three verses were originally written as an inspired introduction and description by the Prophet.

 10–17, Herbs, fruits, flesh, and grain are ordained for the use of man and of animals;

  12 Yea, aflesh also of bbeasts and of the fowls of the air, I, the Lord, have ordained for the use of man with thanksgiving; nevertheless they are to be used csparingly;
  13 And it is pleasing unto me that they should not be aused, only in times of winter, or of cold, or bfamine.
