(2 Peter 1:20) Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. (Isaiah 28:10) For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: (Isaiah 28:13) But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

And Im still waiting for you
to tell me how St. Paul became a FATHER - THROUGH THE GOSPEL?
And how this DOES NOT contradict, inerrant, God Breathed Scripture...
When Jesus said "No Father"
🙂

Protestantism wants a contract, not a covenant.

There is no trust in a contract. In a covenant there is trust.

Protestantism doesn’t have any trust in God.

Izzat so?

Galatians 3:14-15

14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing promised to Abraham would come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
15 Brothers, let me put this in human terms. Even a human covenant, once it is ratified, cannot be canceled or amended.

Seems like you need to upgrade the content of your vocabulary...

covenant
kŭv′ə-nənt

noun

  1. A binding agreement; a compact. synonym: agreement.
  2. A condition in a contract such as a deed or lease, nonperformance or violation of which gives rise to a cause of action for breach.
  3. A contract.

It’s his redefining “tradition” that is the hole behind enough to drive the solar system through. His definition allows pretty much whatever Rome wants to claim it’s now “remembered”. The proposed Fifth Marian dogma comes to mind as an example.

Since you admit that Jesus told His disciples not to take the title of father or use it for religious leaders, maybe you can explain why the Catholic religion requires it.

And even if your argument that Paul disobeyed Jesus’ command, how does that justify you all disobeying it? Just because you claim Paul did it means we can do it, too?

For the record, there is NEVER any instance of Paul or any of the other apostles being addresses with the title of *Father*.

Or does faith come through hearing?

Comes thru hearing the RIGHT stuff. Mormonism has added 'traditions' and doctrine; just like Rome has.

I wonder who taught them that?

Please reread the post more carefully and more slowly. When Ratzinger says, “Tradition” was identified with what could be proved on the basis of texts.” He is talking about commonly held beliefs prior to the Bodily Assumption of Mary being defined. He is speaking of old views of tradition, and then, if you read through to the end you will get to his then current definition of “tradition”, i.e. “Ratzinger's belief of “tradition” included “the living process whereby the Holy Spirit introduces us to the fullness of truth and teaches us how to understand what previously we could still not grasp (cf. Jn 16:12-13), then subsequent “remembering” (cf. Jn 16:4, for instance) can come to recognize what it has not caught sight of previously and was already handed down in the original Word.”

This is exact;y why I took offense to Daniel1212 cutting the statement in half. Because there are people like you around who will read it the wrong way.

I’m still looking in Scripture for somewhere where Jesus admonished His disciples to use tradition or where He ever spoke highly of it.

You are glossing over the part where he states “Tradition…….. already handed down in the original Word.” That narrows it down. No?

DAmn!

If a priest wanted to retain a fella’s sins; that fella’s soul would likely go to hell; right?

What power!

I long for the day when you all can ask Christ, why He commanded.. call no man Father, as in the Heavenly Father. You all are going to be hanging your heads in red faced embarrassment.. there is nothing holy about that old crow in Rome.. you all mock the Heavenly Father when you call him ‘holy father’!

But if you believe that teaching by a human is needed then you’ve just flushed Sola Scriptura down the toilet.

Even if that teacher teaches what is only found in the BIBLE?

hmmmMMM...

Also, as regards your missing person's graves argument, ...

Moses must have gone straight to heaven; too; because we cannot find HIS grave!

We know he didn't do time in purgatory 'cause it hadn't been invented yet.

WAIT!

There's MORE!!

Galatians 6:1-2 ESV

Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

It's up to you to prove a negative that's not in scripture.

And...

It's up to you to prove a TRADITION that's not in scripture.

Shirley you have a list.
