——>By what authority would Uriah Smith instruct Gentiles to keep the Sabbath on Saturday but not circumcise their male children if they thought themselves to be LITERAL Israel?

NOT literal Israel. Uriah Smith makes that very clear. Now only Spiritual.

Circumcision was a sign for LITERAL Israel.

There is no more Literal Israel, no more “Jew”. Their very last chance ended at the stoning of Stephen. They had 490 years to turn things around. They failed.

I call it the “Old Testament” and so do many others. I never said that’s what it was called in the bible, because it wasn’t.

There is no more Literal Israel, no more “Jew”.

You do greatly err.

Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The Lord of hosts is his name:

If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the Lord, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

Thus saith the Lord; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the Lord.

CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH:

The glorious advent of Christ, the hope of Israel

673 Since the Ascension Christ's coming in glory has been imminent,566 even though "it is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has fixed by his own authority."567. This eschatological coming could be accomplished at any moment, even if both it and the final trial that will precede it are "delayed".568

674 The glorious Messiah's coming is suspended at every moment of history until his recognition by "all Israel", for "a hardening has come upon part of Israel" in their "unbelief" toward Jesus.569 St. Peter says to the Jews of Jerusalem after Pentecost: "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, whom heaven must receive until the time for establishing all that God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old."570 St. Paul echoes him: "For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead?"571 The "full inclusion" of the Jews in the Messiah's salvation, in the wake of "the full number of the Gentiles",572 will enable the People of God to achieve "the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ", in which "God may be all in all".573

Tell me about it after you read the article by Uriah Smith.

The seed of Israel does not necessarily mean LITERAL ISRAEL/JEW, and Paul makes that very clear.

I call it the “Old Testament” and so do many others. I never said that’s what it was called in the bible, because it wasn’t.

Jesus referred to the Law and the Prophets. The phrase "Old Testament" was first used by Melito of Sardis, a Jewish Catholic bishop in the Second Century.

Take a look:

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

I didn’t know that, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

How about the law, and the prophets and the Psalms? why did you leave out the Psalms?

and Paul makes that very clear.

What Paul makes very clear has oft been twisted by the unlearned and unstable to their own destruction. There are actually those who teach there are no more male or female, making for a disordered world to say the least. So it is with Israel and the Jews. I suppose some really do not understand what the word Amen signifies, or its origin.

I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh: Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

Why ask the wrong question ?

Rather, ask "Why did Jesus leave out the Psalms ?

Hint: He did not leave out the Psalms (or Daniel). He included them in what has come down to us in the Gospels although he did not use the triplet phrase "Torah, Neviim, v'Ketuvim" as is done today, but rather just "Torah v'Neviim"

I have to disagree with you. (from the article)

Christ Declares The Hebrew Canon The Word of God.

Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

Here in the above verse, Jesus divides the written word of God into three categories. The Hebrew Bible, known by the acronym TaNaKh, has these three divisions, first the Torah, the first five books of Moses, second the Nevi’im or Prophets, and third the Ketuvim or Writings. Christ was appearing to the disciples shortly after His resurrection and He was expounding to His disciples on the testimony of the scriptures about Himself, from one end of the Bible to the other. From the beginning at Moses; next to the prophets; and then on to the last division that began with Psalms; Christ explained from the Hebrew Bible, the TaNaKh, how it revealed Him to be the Messiah.

I have to disagree with you.

And properly so, for I wrote somewhat incorrectly concerning the usage of the words.

fThe text in Luke's Gospel has him saying Psalms (תהילים presumably) which would not seem to include the other books assigned the "Writings" portion of what is known as the Old Testament. Luke is interesting because it has "The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it. And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail." And yet the

But then again Matthew has, "On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

It is odd that in the Gospels, only Luke uses the word (which only refers to a portion of the Ketuvim.

No. Why would it?

Because you wrote:

Old Testament: “From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias”

Enoch came after Abel and his book was apparently quoted by Jude. Enoch, the seventh from Adam" is quoted in Jude 1:14–15:

And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convict all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

THEY DIDN'T GET IT IN WRITING!!!

Oh???

2 Thessalonians 2:15
So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.   (they AGREE!)

2 Timothy 3:16-17
 16.  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,    (nothing about TRADITION here.)
 17.  so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

NIV Acts 7:42
But God turned away and gave them over to the worship of the heavenly bodies. This agrees with what is written in the book of the prophets: "`Did you bring me sacrifices and offerings forty years in the desert, O house of Israel?

 NIV 1 Corinthians 4:6
Now, brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, "Do not go beyond what is written." Then you will not take pride in one man over against another.

NIV John 20:30-31
30. Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book.
31. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
NIV Romans 4:23-24
23. The words "it was credited to him" were written not for him alone,
24. but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness--for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.

NIV Romans 15:3-4
3. For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: "The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me."
4. For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

NIV 2 Corinthians 4:13-14
13. it is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak,
14. because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence.

as the LORD your God has commanded you.

You WHO??

ACTS of the APOSTLES
15:22-31
The Council's Letter to Gentile Believers
22 Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas (called Barsabbas) and Silas, men who were leaders among the believers. 23 With them they sent the following letter:

The apostles and elders, your brothers,

To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia:

   Greetings.

24 We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said. 25 So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul— 26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing. 28 It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: 29 You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.

   Farewell.

30 So the men were sent off and went down to Antioch, where they gathered the church together and delivered the letter. 31 The people read it and were glad for its encouraging message.

Look's like the cat is back in the bag.

Why would I bother to search in history for the names of dearly departed.

To verify what you've been taught?

You on the other hand will attempt to make a Mountain out of a molehill.

A horse can step in a molehole and break it's leg.
Are you afraid to research your chosen religious beginnings??

Afraid of metaphorically breaking a leg?

You have taken license with what I said.

So; you have a little one; I have a big one.

And I also have a shed, 8*12, that used to be a corn crib until I sided it with vinyl.

It has a corrugated sheet metal floor (old barn roofing) and sits on concrete blocks.

The old roof had two layers of asphalt shingles, thoroughly rotten and leaking thru what was left of the plywood under them.

I started re-roofing back in June and STILL haven't finished (I'm gonna blame FR!)

It now has new trusses and a sheet metal roof, but the ridge metal is not screwed down yet.

Maybe Tuesday...

Woman! I TOLD you I'm gonna fix it - you do NOT need to ask me about it every six months!!
