(2 Peter 1:20) Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. (Isaiah 28:10) For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: (Isaiah 28:13) But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

You sure have a very low opinion of the God breathed, Holy Spirit inspired Word of God.

It’s no wonder you have been duped by Catholicism.

You have very little understanding of “sola scriptura”, of what it means and of how you prots don’t adhere to it.

You also have a very low opinion of the Mother of Jesus Christ, i.e., the Mother of God.

You sure have a very low opinion of the God breathed, Holy Spirit inspired Word of God.

You have a very low opinion of the very scripture you claim to defend:

21 He said therefore to them again: Peace be to you. As the Father hath sent me, I also send you.  22 When he had said this, he breathed on them; and he said to them: Receive ye the Holy Ghost.  23 Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained. John Chapter 20.

And as usual, you'll probably go outside scripture to argue against what is in scripture.

It's not "sola scriptura"; it's "electus scripturae".

Your every post is an example of it.

You get a point for that bud!
I stand corrected... thanks
good research there too...
I guess I'll have to do Fr. Mike Schmitz's
Bible In A Year podcast now!

Having 71% of the NT available is still not too shabby still!
I'm not old enough to have done the Pre-Vat2 Mass...that was interesting.
But that Mass form is different and allocated more Mass time for prayer on the Altar and the Eucharistic liturgy.

Question for you then...
Do you know (is there) the similar percentage stats
for the usual non- Catholic worship service on Sundays?
It would be intetesting to see how we stack up...

and I learned something

The question is not so much how much is read, but is it explained? Does the priest go verse by verse and exegete the passage or is the passage read just because it’s supposed to be read?

Its good the people hear the Word in either case.

I’d venture in a lot of mainstream churches the Word is not read that much. IMHO it’s part of the problem in the church today.

I’d also venture non-RCs read the Bible more than RCs outside of a formal service but I don’t have any numbers on that. PEW research probably does.

What did you tell you about John 20:23?

Whatever it was, it was outside scripture.

He doesn’t agree with you. He also read 2nd Cor 5:18, and I doubt he agrees with you there either. He doesn’t fear Hell either, because of OSAS. We will have to agree to disagree on these issues, because my mind will NEVER change. I have no idea, what your standing with God is, but if you are on the wrong side of eternity, it won’t be cool.

When I accepted Christ and started attending church again, I went back to the Catholic church because that’s where I was raised. That was church to me.

I left the Catholic Church for the same reason you did. I think I lasted 3 or 4 weeks, and left. Several Catholics, later asked me why I left. I was only happy to tell them.

Maybe you can explain how Catholics cause God’s word to contradict itself.

I've already posted how the CCC manages to do this very thing.

>Sadly, protestantism seems to still hold onto some Catholic teachings after all these years:

"Gramma is in a better place now. When she died she went to be with Jesus."

John 20:2

If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you withhold forgiveness from anyone, it is withheld."

Yup.

Just like it says here:

Matthew 6:14-16 New King James Version

14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
