Sadly, this is largely why the national Presbyterian church has gone from 4 million to slightly over 1 million members. Hard core leftists have moved into the clergy, partly as a result of getting draft deferments during Vietnam and carrying their left views forward in cushy jobs as half-believing ministers. This is the same church that bankrolled the defense of the hardcore communist Angela Davis (until vast numbers of its member churches screamed about it) and commemorated the murderous Black Panthers. This is the national church that threw a huge party for the draft dodgers when Carter pardoned them but did not a thing for the returning from war vets. They don’t seem to know the Gospels.
