As explained by a friend who is a rabbi, the army in Israel is the Jewish Defense Force and their purpose is to defend Israel against all attackers and defend the state. When a child is in the womb, it is considered to be an attacker and should be defended by any means possible including abortion. I understand the concept but totally disagree with it. The rabbi stated that is why most Jews are pro-abortion. God says choose life. They got that one wrong - the pro-choice Jews.
