Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 18
A Blind Beggar Receives His Sight
35 As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. 36 When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening. 37 They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”
38 He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
39 Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
40 Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, 41 “What do you want me to do for you?”
“Lord, I want to see,” he replied.
42 Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” 43 Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise,
For You Alone Are Holy and Righteous and Just!
Omnipotent,
Omniscient,
and Omnipresent,
You Are The Eternal,
Immortal Creator of All Things!
And What You Have Created,
You Can Also Destroy.
Keep us in Your care, Dear Lord.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

When I first moved into my little mobile home, I bought a vacuum cleaner. It has worked great for seven years. Yesterday, I decided to not only clean the collection basket like I always do, but take the whole thing apart, lay out all the pieces on the counter, and really clean it. I thought it would be a quick job, like taking apart a pistol, cleaning and oiling everything, and putting it all together again, with all the right pieces in the right places. "I can do this!" I crowed. There were even cartoon instructions on cleaning out the filters printed right on the body of the vacuum cleaner. Quick Job! I should have been doing this all along!
Then I started to disassemble the vacuum cleaner. In it were seven years of dirt, the hair and dander from three dogs and one long-haired old biker (moi), and the effluvia of many, many MICE (Arrgh!). I had to keep going, because it was a job that HAD to be done, now that I had started it. It was SO DISGUSTING! I just figured out how to remove the filter in order to wash it. Everything has to dry for 24 hours before I can reassemble it, and the parts are festooned all over my kitchen counter. Now that I know how to do it, I might make it a practice of cleaning it after every "trip to the range".
As we go through life, we pick up all kinds of disgusting sins. Most of these aren't visible, as they are sins of the heart.. Everything looks fine to everybody else, and all they see is the exterior. Certain things are visible, like a scowling expression, or a nasty remark, but these are just tiny hints of what is lurking under the surface. That is why, when Jesus healed some people, He started out with the Forgiveness of Sins. Being Omniscient, He could see what is backed up behind the filter.
Some people have no filters. They blurt out whatever comes into their heads, and can be hurtful and offensive. God gave us "filters" or a reason. We are to always have our "Yes" mean "Yes", and our "No" be "No", but it is not godly to be arrogant and aggressive towards people by sharing every thought that comes into one's mind.
The Book of Proverbs says:
11 A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards. (Proverbs 29 KJV)
Nevertheless, it is important to clean out those filters from time to time. Confess those feelings and sins to God. There is no amount of nasty junk that will surprise or offend Him. Allow Him to pour His Living Water through you and restore your soul. The more frequently you wash out those filters, the easier it will be each time.
When Jesus healed the Blind Man in this instance, He makes no reference to the Forgiveness of Sins. Yet, the man addressed Jesus as "The Son of David". This form of address was reserved for the Messiah, so the Blind Man could actually SEE more than anyone else in the crowd Who Jesus Was.

Psalm 65
To the leader. A Psalm of David. A Song.
1 Praise is due to you,
O God, in Zion;
and to you shall vows be performed,
2 O you who answer prayer!
To you all flesh shall come.
3 When deeds of iniquity overwhelm us,
you forgive our transgressions.
4 Happy are those whom you choose and bring near
to live in your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house,
your holy temple.
5 By awesome deeds you answer us with deliverance,
O God of our salvation;
you are the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas.
6 By your* strength you established the mountains;
you are girded with might.
7 You silence the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
the tumult of the peoples.
8 Those who live at earth’s farthest bounds are awed by your signs;
you make the gateways of the morning and the evening shout for joy.
9 You visit the earth and water it,
you greatly enrich it;
the river of God is full of water;
you provide the people with grain,
for so you have prepared it.
10 You water its furrows abundantly,
settling its ridges,
softening it with showers,
and blessing its growth.
11 You crown the year with your bounty;
your wagon tracks overflow with richness.
12 The pastures of the wilderness overflow,
the hills gird themselves with joy,
13 the meadows clothe themselves with flocks,
the valleys deck themselves with grain,
they shout and sing together for joy.
