I pray to BOTH.

2. If praying to the Father is always the only choice, why do Protestants request intercessionary prayer from mortals?
And if Protestants request intercessionary prayer from mortals, why not also request it from the Mother of God?
Good question.
Scripture never encourages prayer to Mary, never commands it, never see an Apostle do it, no first century church did it, and nothing in Scripture says she can hear your prayer, nor has power to answer them.
When we do this, we are not obeying God and not following the pattern of Scripture.
In short, it is made up of pagan cloth.
Your mortal earth-based friends can hear you and can pray for you, we are encouraged to share our need and pray for one another in the church.
When we do this, we are obeying God and following the pattern of Scripture for a believer.
“And if Protestants request intercessionary prayer from mortals, why not also request it from the Mother of God?”
Because “she’s dead Jim”
And we ain’t supposed to talk to the dead.
That’s why
...that is all
And if Protestants request intercessionary prayer from mortals, why not also request it from the Mother of God?
Why not?
If your earthly father was alive today, would you talk to him though others? you would do that only if you didn’t have a good relationship with your earthly father.
God the Father invites you into a deep personal relationship with Him (the New Covenant). FULL STOP.
Why? Do you think she's going to have influence on Him that anyone else doesn't have?
Or do you think that she will do for you what God won't?
Or don't you believe God's and Jesus promise that God the Father Himself will hear your prayers?
