Mary was told of God’s plan, and she explicitly consented.

My point was that you seem to believe that God is not interested in our consent for what He wants us to do.

This seems to argue against the idea of free will.

So, again, you do not believe God would want consent before impregnating Mary?

I could explain it to you, but I can’t make you understand.

My point was that you seem to believe that God is not interested in our consent for what He wants us to do.

God is God and can do as He pleases, whether we like it or agree to it or not.

If you were more familiar with Scripture you would know that God doesn’t usually ask people’s permission to work through them.

Are you familiar with Moses, Jonah, and the apostle Paul, just for starters?

Man cannot have free will as he is subject to physical laws of this world and cannot violate them, and is often subject to what others impose on them.

Yes, we have choices to make within a limited framework, but nobody but God is capable of having actual free will.

Even supposing that Mary had the ability to thwart God’s will, do you seriously think that God would not have already known that? Supposing that a mere human’s cooperation and agreement to God’s acting in their lives is required, do you really think that God didn’t already know whether Mary would submit or not?

Catholics really limit God and hogtie Him by subjecting Him to the decisions of man.

Quite an impotent god you all have there.

He is the potter and we are the clay.

God has a claim of ownership on us by virtue of being our Creator, and our Redeemer.

FWIW, I never noticed that God asks anyone’s permission to be born or die.

Gee, God, I’m not ready and willing to die yet. You can’t take me now. You’ll just have to wait.

Help what? Is your faith and trust in God that weak that you all need props?

Many years ago, I went to a church in Houston, Texas. The pastor, an ex Catholic himself, said something I thought was interesting. He said the less light there is in a religion, the more “lights” it must have to function. You just said pretty much the same thing. I think one of the biggest props, is purgatory. Without purgatory, it’s a tough religion to sell.

No one else. I mentioned the ECFs to illustrate this was not a “unanimous” belief as far as rcm being sinless. She was not.

I have heard some say, that Mary didn’t even recognize Jesus, for who He really is, till He walked out of the tomb. Interesting point, I thought.

Mary and her other sons came to fetch Jesus home because they thought He was out of His mind.

Without repentance and faith in Christ you’re just repeating words.

As an example, our currency has In God We Trust. A person may say that, but apart from faith in Christ it’s repeating words.

Rome has published facts, in it's book, that have turned IT's 'Mary' into a HYPOCRITE, by painting her as SINLESS, yet writing of her going into the temple to make a SIN offering.

Didn’t they also try to paint her as a frigid woman, since they say she was a perpetual virgin? Joseph must have been a horny old goat, as she deprived him of her “favors.” Do you suppose late at night, he probably asked, Mary, are you awake? She probably said, go back to sleep old man, I already told you NO WAY. 😆😀😁

Part of the reasoning behind Rome’s false claim of perpetual virginity, pre-birth and during birth comes from apocryphal, and rejected, writings which claim Jesus did just “poof” into existence without passing through the birth canal.

I tell ya, when you start digging into the background of Rome’s thinking on this and other issues, it’s quite the interesting dig. And it’s amazing how much contradicts not only Scripture but Rome’s own claims.

Mary and her other sons came to fetch Jesus home because they thought He was out of His mind..

Yes, the sisters of Jesus were there too, and it is certainly possible, they thought he was nuts, plus, they may have thought he was bringing much unwanted attention to the family, from the Pharisees, and maybe even the Romans.
The Scriptures say even His brothers didn’t believe in Him. Later, at least two of them did, though I hope all the the brothers and sisters of Jesus believed in Him, to the saving of the soul.
James, one of the other brothers of Jesus, was the head of the Jerusalem church, not Peter. That might be a tough pill to swallow, for some, but I just say, oh well, I am not that worried about it.

Think Jesus will like you making fun of his mother?

I would never attack the Virgin Mary for something that was created out of whole cloth by the Roman Catholic Church.

We always read the Christmas Story in Luke 2:1-14 KJV on Christmas Eve with each of my siblings and I taking turns reading as we grew older.

As I posted above in the thread, I worked at a Catholic Boys Home and had to help the boys memorize their "Our Fathers" and "Hail Marys."   I remember letter by letter how to say a Hail Mary.
Hail, Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
Every Protestant knows that any person who is no longer alive cannot be contacted by any of us alive now.
I also attended a retreat at the Abbey of Gethsemani at Bardstown, Kentucky as an ecumenical outreach.   We got up every couple of hours to watch the Monks pray for all of the political and civic leaders across the world, for supplicants who had contacted the Abbey, and for anyone in media or in the public knowledge who experienced hardship in need of prayer.   I point this out to show you that I have nothing against Catholics.   It is impossible to accept the Roman Catholic Church's beliefs and customs that are throwbacks to times of illiterate dumb masses that were oppressed Serfs controlled by mysticism and concessions to their pagan past.   Most of us remember when the Mass was said in Latin to keep the parishioners ignorant of what they participated in.

It is obvious that in your mind Protestants are guilty of turning against your Roman Catholic Church.   You should consider the vast indictment against the Roman Catholic Church that forced Protestants away from your to difficult to stomach Church.
