Approximately one-third of the population in Switzerland does not belong to any specific religion or denomination, which is about three times more than 20 years ago.
According to the Federal Statistical Office of Switzerland (BfS) in 2021, 32% of the Swiss population has no religious or denominational affiliation. Around 33% of the respondents identified themselves as Catholics, while Protestants make up 21% of the country’s population.
The proportion of people not practicing any religion in Switzerland has been steadily increasing since the 1970s. In the year 2000, only about 11% of the Swiss population stated that they did not adhere to any religion. Compared to other European countries, the percentage of “non-believers” in Switzerland is not particularly high. For instance, in France, more than half of the population does not belong to any religion, but there, secularism has a long-standing tradition since the time of the French Revolution.
According to the BfS, individuals in Switzerland without a religious affiliation are typically young, educated, and reside in urban areas, particularly in the French-speaking part of the country. In the Basel and Neuchâtel cantons, the proportion of those not adhering to any religion exceeds 50%. Many of these individuals were previously affiliated with a church but later left their religious community, while others have never belonged to any religion.

Is that why Switzerland has low crime rates?
Won’t be too long before they are adhering to the religion of peace.
I’m sure the Swiss believe in management tools if nothing else from direct experience. Call Zurich whenever you need to turn the sprinkler system off, etc...
They have 5 percent right now. United States has 1.3 percent.
Unless and until Europe’s Christian churches, Catholic and protestant, decide to reject secular liberalism in favor of the historic Christian faith, Christianity will continue to decline in Europe.
when something bad or good happens to you and you say “Oh God” then deep down your really a believer.
Add their cheese is full of holes...
Seriously though this is a perfect example of replacing God with government.
I’ll give them a month, tops.
Religion of money and banking— in any of the cantons— that is all they are about, and don’t generally care where it comes from or how it was “earned”.
And yet Swiss cheese is holy.
😆
Or if you get angry and say "God damn it"?
Well maybe, but that's not the same as adhering to a religion.

The last couple Sundays we (our local church) had visits from 2 different sets of folks we support doing Christian work in Europe. One, a couple doing work among North African immigrants in southern France, the other teaching 3rd world pastors at an evangelical seminary in the Netherlands.
In both cases the local spiritual scene with actual Euros was fairly bleak. Very secular. France is relentlessly so. The Netherlands is more complicated, due to a policy called "pillarisation", There is official support for institutions, but not spiritual health.
Wait until democrats move in things will change.
