A California Christian church and preschool were pushed out of a federal food program for policies opposing homosexuality and transgenderism, including a prohibition on 'lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender lifestyles' for staff.
(LifeSiteNews) — A Christian church and preschool are suing the Biden administration and California state officials for suspending them from a food program serving impoverished students because of the church’s religious beliefs on human sexuality.
The Church of Compassion and its subsidiary Dayspring Christian Learning Center, located in El Cajon, California, maintain traditional beliefs regarding sexuality and gender, such as that there are only two “genders” (sexes). The lawsuit points out that these beliefs “were uncontroversial for more than 2,000 years and continue to be held by most major world religions.”
However, their beliefs are at odds with the Biden administration’s altered interpretation of the definition of “sex” in Title IX “to include sexual orientation and gender identity.” Following this new definition, California’s Department of Social Services and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued mandates that led to the suspension of the church and preschool from participation in the Child and Adult Food Care Program on December 29, 2022.
As examples of practices considered a violation of Title IX, the church and Dayspring “only hire those who share and live out their religious beliefs, including their beliefs about human sexuality,” the lawsuit notes. Specifically, they were considered in violation of state law for “requir[ing] all employees to read and abide by a staff handbook that specifically disallows ‘lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender lifestyles,’” according to the lawsuit.
Dayspring also “maintains sex-separated bathrooms and dress codes for boys and girls based on their biological differences and cannot agree to use any child or employee’s ‘preferred’ pronouns that do not correspond to biological sex.”

I think the Biden Administration and the State of California are going to lose this case.
Has Biden ever cracked open a Bible?
Alternative headline: “Biden Administration: ‘Let Christian Schoolkids Go Hungry.’”
Yet another reason why Washington needs to be flushed. Sic semper tyrannis.
If you live by 501c3 you die by 501c3, there’s a lot of churches that don’t have anything to do with 5013c and they can pretty much say or do anything they want to, keep that in mind the next time you go to a church or even the next time you claim Church contributions on your tax form.
“I think the Biden Administration and the State of California are going to lose this case.”
By the time they eventually win the case, they will have closed down due to being unable to operate without that funding. They will not be able to increase the tuition in the amount necessary to make up that lost funding. If they do, they will lose students and if they don’t they will not have the funds to operate.
That’s what the left counts on when they impose unconstitutional regulations.
It’s for a food program, not for education
I doubt it.
War on churches escalating.
“By the time they eventually win the case, they will have closed down due to being unable to operate without that funding.”
No, they won’t have to close down; they’ll just have to stop giving free meals to the kids. The funds at the heart of this case are designated for lunches.
Christian schools have no business taking even one penny from the government. And this is precisely why. They get to dictate how things are run.
And THIS is the danger of taking government money for ANYTHING.
So the Democrats are being stinkers, sure. But it would be good for private institutions to preserve their integrity by avoiding government funding even before something like this comes up.
Because jamming things in butts should be celebrated
The communists have taken complete control and this is the result.
There’s another lawsuit waiting for President Retard to lose again.
“No, they won’t have to close down; they’ll just have to stop giving free meals to the kids. The funds at the heart of this case are designated for lunches.”
Which I doubt they have the extra funds to provide. Small business operate on a very thin profit margin. They will still have to feed the children but will have to increase tuition to provide those meals. Many parents will be unable to absorb that increase as they too are operating on thin profit margins given that inflation has increased their costs across the board.
“Which I doubt they have the extra funds to provide.”
So, like I said, they’ll just stop giving the kids free meals.
I grew up in California. I went to private Catholic schools (the first public school I went to was in college). We NEVER had free meals; hell, we didn’t even have a cafeteria that served food. We had a “lunch” room where one could buy snacks and ice cream, etc.; but no real food. Every kid in school either brought their lunch to school or went home for lunch.
The “free lunch” program has always been a scam, as many parents who would well afford to provide their kids good meals embraced the attitude of “Let Uncle Sugar pay for it!”
If parents have trouble feeding their kids, those parents need to cut out the “extras” they blow their money on (widescreen TVs; nice stereo systems; nice cars; booze; etc.). Just as the food stamp program is heavily abused, so are the free school breakfast and lunch programs.
Demoralizing must go forward it’s for the agenda comrades.
