Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 12
Watchfulness
35 “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, 36 like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. 37 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. 38 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. 39 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. 40 You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”
41 Peter asked, “Lord, are you telling this parable to us, or to everyone?”
42 The Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time? 43 It will be good for that servant whom the master finds doing so when he returns. 44 Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 45 But suppose the servant says to himself, ‘My master is taking a long time in coming,’ and he then begins to beat the other servants, both men and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk. 46 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers.
47 “The servant who knows the master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows. 48 But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
Magnified and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
How We Love You,
With Our Whole Heart,
Our Whole Soul,
Our Whole Mind,
and Our Whole Strength!
For Only You Are Worthy To Be Praised and Worshiped.
Only You Are Holy,
Almighty, and Eternal!
The Nations are Merely Dust To You,
And We, The Work of Your Hands,
Must Bow Our Heads in Worship and Admiration,
and Awe at Your Great Glory!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Years ago, in the Boston community where I lived, a child went missing. The whole community showed up in the morning to search for the child, and the Police directed us to comb every yard, every patch of woods, every dumpster, and every inch of ground to find him. I remember the horror I experienced, being a part of that search team, wondering if I was going to be the one to find the child, and what condition he would be in when I found him. It was extremely traumatic, and I didn't even know the boy. I can't even imagine what his loved ones were going through. The boy's body was eventually found, in a closet of a neighbor, who was arrested immediately for murder.
Years later, in Florida, a woman went missing. I was perfectly willing to join a search party, even knowing what trauma it could entail, but the Police said,
"No thanks. We have plenty of Surveillance Cameras. We'll find her."
They did indeed have plenty of cameras. There was a camera in the parking lot, where she had parked her car and got out and walked toward a store. There was a camera on the store that got her walking by the door. There was a camera on a bus that had stopped to let off passengers. There was a Red Light Camera at the intersection, but it had not been triggered. There was another camera that caught her walking toward a corner, and then...she disappeared. Her body was not found for several weeks.I didn't follow up on the story, so I don't know if they ever found her murderer. All I know is that if the "Powers that Be" had accepted the proffered assistance of concerned neighbors, the outcome may have been different.
In the Last Century, a certain amount of privacy was assumed. In Today's World, we have to assume that we are always "Under Surveillance". But "Surveillance" is not the same thing as "Situational Awareness", or what Jesus called "Watchfulness".
"Surveillance" is Passive, while "Watchfulness" is Active. A perfect example of the difference would be a person crossing the street, looking at his Doorbell Cam on his Cell Phone. Because he is distracted by "Surveillance", and not being "Watchful", he gets struck by a car while crossing the street. (This actually happened to somebody I know.) While Doorbell Cams might be helpful in catching "Porch Pirates", they are no substitute for alert, community-minded neighbors who look out for each other.
Jesus tells us to be "Watchful" but not "Nosy". There is a difference. He also poses a paradox in this parable, of the master serving the slave. We will see Him elaborate on this when we get to John 13, where Jesus washes the feet of His disciples.
Whenever Jesus does return (and I hope it is SOON!), Every Eye Shall See HIM, and it won't matter what the Surveillance Cameras show.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.

Psalm 72
Of Solomon.
1 Give the king your justice, O God,
and your righteousness to a king’s son.
2 May he judge your people with righteousness,
and your poor with justice.
3 May the mountains yield prosperity for the people,
and the hills, in righteousness.
4 May he defend the cause of the poor of the people,
give deliverance to the needy,
and crush the oppressor.
5 May he live* while the sun endures,
and as long as the moon, throughout all generations.
6 May he be like rain that falls on the mown grass,
like showers that water the earth.
7 In his days may righteousness flourish
and peace abound, until the moon is no more.
8 May he have dominion from sea to sea,
and from the River to the ends of the earth.
9 May his foes* bow down before him,
and his enemies lick the dust.
10 May the kings of Tarshish and of the isles
render him tribute,
may the kings of Sheba and Seba
bring gifts.
11 May all kings fall down before him,
all nations give him service.
12 For he delivers the needy when they call,
the poor and those who have no helper.
13 He has pity on the weak and the needy,
and saves the lives of the needy.
14 From oppression and violence he redeems their life;
and precious is their blood in his sight.
15 Long may he live!
May gold of Sheba be given to him.
May prayer be made for him continually,
and blessings invoked for him all day long.
16 May there be abundance of grain in the land;
may it wave on the tops of the mountains;
may its fruit be like Lebanon;
and may people blossom in the cities
like the grass of the field.
17 May his name endure for ever,
his fame continue as long as the sun.
May all nations be blessed in him;*
may they pronounce him happy.
18 Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
who alone does wondrous things.
19 Blessed be his glorious name for ever;
may his glory fill the whole earth.Amen and Amen.
20 The prayers of David son of Jesse are ended.
