Here’s a question, a serious one: If Francis is the Pope, and of he was elected by a conclave of eligible, validly consecrated bishops, and he says sodomy is OK and two men can marry (each other) - aren’t you obligated to assent and to conform your conscience accordingly?

The Catholic Faith is not a dictatorship under the whims of a single despot. The Pope just cannot do that. He does a lot of stupid stuff but he cannot do that and have all Cathoics obliged to comply.

I think ever since Vatican II there is an allowance for sincere dissent. Of course one can also dismiss all of Vatican II if so led by the spirit, by its own definition.
