I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. On the Lord’s Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, which said: “Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.”

John is almost always depicted with his symbol, the eagle.

Modern Day Isle of Patmos -

Several countries have Eagles as their national symbol, USA, Mexico, Germany and others, and ANCIENT ROME. Maybe that was the reason.

But artists don’t put stuff like that in paintings for no reason..........................

22, 23 (love his style of painting), 33

31 is interesting for the details depicted of his visions. Also like how number 5 depicts that “1000 yard stare” as he’s looking past .his present surrounding and into heaven at the visions before him. He depicted the scene well of a man who was “heavenly minded”
