Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 4

Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness

4 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 where for forty days he was tempted[a] by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.

3 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.”

4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’[b]”

5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 6 And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7 If you worship me, it will all be yours.”

8 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’[c]”

9 The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. 10 For it is written:

“‘He will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you carefully;
11  they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[d]”

12 Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[e]”

13 When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Abba, Father Who Art in Heaven,
Blessed Be Your Holy Name!
How we love to sing Your praises,
To Lift Up Your Holy Name in Worship,
For You Alone are Worthy of Praise.
For You are Holy, Righteous and Just,
And Glorious in Majesty!
You Alone Are The One True God.
Perfect in All Your Ways
Ancient of Days,
King of Kings,
And Lord of Lords!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Mom and Dad went to New York City for their Honeymoon. In 1951, New York was a relatively safe place, with lots to see and do. Since it was January, in the aftermath of a blizzard, Central Park was not on the sightseeing list. (Neither was the Statue of Liberty for that matter.) Mom and Dad had to be content with Indoor Amusements. One of these was being a contestant on a radio Quiz Show.

Dad sat proudly in the studio audience as his new bride answered one question after another correctly. Mom's chosen category was "Queens" and she was acing it.

Q: Who was "the Virgin Queen"?
A: Queen Elizabeth 1.

Q: Who was crowned Empress by Napoleon?
A: Josephine.

Q: What Queen killed herself with a snake?
A: Cleopatra.

Then came the final question, and the one that would have netted $1000.00.

Q: To what queen were these words spoken:
"When sorrows come,
they come not in single spies,
But in battalions."?

Mom was stumped. It was a line from Hamlet, and the queen was Gertrude, Hamlet's mother. Mom had never been fond of Shakespeare, so she hadn't studied the plays at all. She went away with $100.00 and a 75 RPM record of the program. I listened to it a few times when I was a kid, and felt so sorry for Mom losing on that question. The other Queens had been real people, and Gertrude was a made-up character. I didn't think it was a fair question at all.

Today's reading is about the Temptation of Christ in the Desert. It differs from Matthew's Account only in the order of the Three Temptations. Some Bible Scholars attribute this to a literary device: Matthew wanted his story to culminate in the punch line: "BEGONE SATAN!", while Luke's account brings us geographically from the Desert, to the World, and, finally, to Jerusalem. Since both accounts depict a Supernatural event, the order is not as important as it would first seem. These Temptations could have been taking place simultaneously, in the spirit realm. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they were ongoing, simultaneously, reaching a crescendo after 40 days. Like Gertrude's sorrows, these temptations might have come, not in single spies, but in battalions. They represent the kinds of temptations that plague us all: The Flesh (hunger, thirst, sexual gratification), the World (Money, Power, Authority, Leadership, Pride), and The Devil (Idolatry, Hero Worship, Entertainment, Obsessions with Personalities, Celebrity, etc) All of the above are not evil in and of themselves. Food is good, so are the Arts, and leadership is necessary for society to function. It is when any of these things take the place of God in our lives that they become sin.

Jesus is able to resist these temptations using The Word of God. He gives us an example of how we can use His Word when dealing with similar temptations.

We have the tools to stand firm, even if the temptations come, not in single spies, but in battalions.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

This is addressed to ALL BELIEVERS in Jesus Yeshua the King, who know that prayer is critical to positive change.

‘left that other site’ : Thank you most sincerely for your ministry here. I have a question RE: prayer.

HOW do we accomplish in prayer, what must be done, to bring revival and save our nation?

This link will take you to a great read on Daniel Nash.
Also, since you believe that prayer is important, you must read “Rees Howells, Intercessor” by Norman Grubb.

Rees Howells (along with his ‘prayer group’) helped change the course of World War 2. This is what America needs today, but HOW?

So I ask again; HOW do we accomplish what these two effective intercessors did?

Specific ideas needed! Thank You!

Psalm 10

1 Why, O Lord, do you stand far off?
Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
2 In arrogance the wicked persecute the poor—
let them be caught in the schemes they have devised.

3 For the wicked boast of the desires of their heart,
those greedy for gain curse and renounce the Lord.
4 In the pride of their countenance the wicked say, ‘God will not seek it out’;
all their thoughts are, ‘There is no God.’

5 Their ways prosper at all times;
your judgements are on high, out of their sight;
as for their foes, they scoff at them.
6 They think in their heart, ‘We shall not be moved;
throughout all generations we shall not meet adversity.’

7 Their mouths are filled with cursing and deceit and oppression;
under their tongues are mischief and iniquity.
8 They sit in ambush in the villages;
in hiding-places they murder the innocent.

Their eyes stealthily watch for the helpless;
9 they lurk in secret like a lion in its covert;
they lurk that they may seize the poor;
they seize the poor and drag them off in their net.

10 They stoop, they crouch,
and the helpless fall by their might.
11 They think in their heart, ‘God has forgotten,
he has hidden his face, he will never see it.’

12 Rise up, O Lord; O God, lift up your hand;
do not forget the oppressed.
13 Why do the wicked renounce God,
and say in their hearts, ‘You will not call us to account’?

14 But you do see! Indeed you note trouble and grief,
that you may take it into your hands;
the helpless commit themselves to you;
you have been the helper of the orphan.

15 Break the arm of the wicked and evildoers;
seek out their wickedness until you find none.
16 The Lord is king for ever and ever;
the nations shall perish from his land.

17 O Lord, you will hear the desire of the meek;
you will strengthen their heart, you will incline your ear
18 to do justice for the orphan and the oppressed,
so that those from earth may strike terror no more.

After considering your question prayerfully, I can only come up with this answer.

Just as Paul used the Roman Roads and Postal Service, and just as Radio and TV were used in the Twentieth Century, we must use the tools available to us. That is, of course, the Internet.

Now, the Roman Roads were also used to transport Armies of Conquest, slaves, and other evils. TV and radio have carried the speeches of totalitarian dictators, and mindless entertainment as well as the Gospel.

A book can contain pornography, or it can contain the Inspired Word of God. The Internet can be an tool of oppression, or of Liberation.

We need to use whatever tools we have to spread the Word, and we need to fight censorship in all its forms. What can be used against evildoers can also be used against us.

While we have the freedom to post our prayers on the Internet, we must seize the day and DO IT. Even if the same airwave are used for evil, we must use everything we have at our disposal before that is taken from us... as I am certain it will be eventually.

Thank you for your question which was quite thought-provoking. Time is short. Even so, Come Quickly Lord Jesus.
