Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 1
Mary Visits Elizabeth
39 At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, 40 where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. 41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! 43 But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45 Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father
Who Art in Heaven,
How Blessed and Wonderful is Your Most Holy Name!
We Enter Your Gates With Thanksgiving
and Your Courts With Praise,
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are God,
You Alone Are The Most High!
Ancient of Days,
Rock of All Ages,
The Lord of Hosts,
LORD, Our Banner,
Our Righteousness,
Our Provider and Our Healer,
You are Our Creator
and we are the Sheep of Your Pasture.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

When I was a child, one of my favorite TV Shows was I Love Lucy. An interesting thing about the show was that Lucy and Desi were married both in real life and on TV. Lucy was pregnant with her second child, Desi Arnaz Jr., and was beginning to "show", so the pregnancy was written into the story line of the popular TV show. This was quite daring and controversial at the time, as nobody had ever been pregnant on a TV Comedy before. In this case, it was rather silly to get all heated up about, as both the characters AND the actors playing them were married.
Mom was pregnant with me at the time, although I was born a few months before "Little Ricky" was. That meant that Mom was wearing the same style of maternity Clothes as Lucy. These consisted of voluminous smocks of goofy design, made of cotton printed with polka dots or some other "cute" pattern. Sometimes, a huge bow would grace the front of this kind of blouse, and make it look more clownish. Being the oldest of 6 children, I saw my Mom don these awful "fashions" many time during my childhood. It was as if there was something shameful about pregnancy, even for a devoutly Christian, married, woman.
Some may say that these fashions hearken back to the Victorian Era, but Queen Victoria herself had nine children with her beloved Albert. Modern historians suggest that it was Albert, not Victoria, who was prudish about dress codes. In any case, the nine Royal Children were married off to the Crowned Heads of Europe, setting the stage for World War One. It just goes to show how the lives and loves of human beings are intertwined, and the birth of even one child can change the world.
In Today's World, maternity fashions consist of yoga pants and a T-Shirt with an arrow pointing to a bulging belly that says "BABY ON BOARD", so times have definitely changed. Many people suggest playing Classical Music (specifically Mozart) for the Pre-Born baby to enhance Cognitive Development. There is some debate over whether that really works, but people do it anyway.
The Virgin Mary was engaged to be married, but hadn't yet had the ceremony. Joseph had been informed that the Child she was carrying was "of The Holy Spirit" (see the Gospel of Matthew) but there was no way to hide Mary's condition. Dr. Luke fills us in on what happened next.
Elizabeth, Mary's Cousin, was experiencing a Miraculous Pregnancy as well. Mary went to Elizabeth's home to live with her for three months. In this way the two women could help each other, away from the prying eyes of gossipy neighbors. This period of time in Mary's Life, called "The Visitation" is rich with lessons for us all. First of all, it shows the importance of Family in taking care of one another during difficult times. It shows how women can connect and protect one another. Most of all, it shows the Personhood of the Pre-Born Baby.
Upon hearing Mary's greeting, the Baby John leaps for Joy in Elizabeth's womb.
Nobody would play Mozart to a insentient blob of cells, and that "blob" certainly wouldn't be "leaping for joy".
Dr. Luke knows his stuff.

Interesting how I see posts of prochoicers scolding us to dare to compare school shootings to abortions, as fetuses are not alive, since they don’t breathe air.
Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.

Psalm 84
To the leader: according to The Gittith. Of the Korahites. A Psalm.
1 How lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord of hosts!
2 My soul longs, indeed it faints
for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and my flesh sing for joy
to the living God.
3 Even the sparrow finds a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may lay her young,
at your altars, O Lord of hosts,
my King and my God.
4 Happy are those who live in your house,
ever singing your praise.
Selah
5 Happy are those whose strength is in you,
in whose heart are the highways to Zion.*
6 As they go through the valley of Baca
they make it a place of springs;
the early rain also covers it with pools.
7 They go from strength to strength;
the God of gods will be seen in Zion.
8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer;
give ear, O God of Jacob!
Selah
9 Behold our shield, O God;
look on the face of your anointed.
10 For a day in your courts is better
than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than live in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
he bestows favour and honour.
No good thing does the Lord withhold
from those who walk uprightly.
12 O Lord of hosts,
happy is everyone who trusts in you.
