Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Mark 12

Whose Son Is the Messiah?

35 While Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, he asked, “Why do the teachers of the law say that the Messiah is the son of David? 36 David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared:

“‘The Lord said to my Lord:

    “Sit at my right hand

until I put your enemies

    under your feet.”’[h]

37 David himself calls him ‘Lord.’ How then can he be his son?”

The large crowd listened to him with delight.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father In Heaven,
Hallowed and Holy and Sanctified is Your Most Wonderful Name!
You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The Most High!
You, The One True God,
The Ancient Of Days,
LORD of Hosts,
and Rock of All Ages,
Are The Same Yesterday,
Today, and Forever.
Your Steadfast Love Never Ceases.
Your Mercies Never Come to an End.
They Are New Every Morning.
Your Loving Kindness Is from Everlasting To Everlasting.
Even When We Are Unfaithful, You Are Always Faithful.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Nicko, the drummer for a famous Rock Band, opened up a BBQ Restaurant near where I lived. Even though he was a Rock Star, he was very friendly and talkative with his customers, and put the same dedication into his restaurant as he did with his drumming. I was a "regular" there and always ordered Hot Wings. On a scale of 1-5, I chose a high 3 for the spiciness of the wings. As I got used to the heat, I started inching up to the 4.

Nicko looked at me skeptically.

"Are you sure you can handle a 4?"

"Bring it on!" I boasted.

Out came a plate of "4's". I gobbled them up and said I would like to try a "Four and a Half".

"Are you sure about that?" asked Nicko. "I'll bring out one for free just to make sure."

Out came a little plate with a single Chicken Wing on it. I confidently took a bite and, suddenly, all the Fires of Perdition broke loose in my mouth. There was no longer any flavor, just searing HEAT. I spit was was left into a napkin, guzzled some water, and admitted defeat.

All through the Gospel of Mark, we see the Pharisees, Saduccees, and Teachers of the Law engaging in "GOTCHA" questions. I remembered a Yiddish term for these types of discussions, called pilpul. The word resembles the word for "Pepper", as sometimes these discussions could get very HOT. As the Wiki article explains, Rabbis differ upon the usefulness of this type of argument. Some think it is good to toss ideas back and forth to get the most out of reading the Scriptures. Others say that it just invites confusion.

The Apostle Paul warned about getting into endless discussions and controversies when writing his letters to young pastors Titus and Timothy. (Titus 3:9, 2 Timothy 2:16)

In Today's Reading, Jesus poses a question to the questioners. He asks that, if the Messiah is the Son of David, why does David call Him "LORD"? Jesus was a descendant of David through His mother, Mary. Luke's Genealogy affirms that. Matthew's Genealogy affirms David's lineage for Joseph, who was Jesus's Foster Father on earth. That means that Jesus was both legally a "son" (lower case "s") of David. he was also the Upper Case "S" Son of David, due to His Incarnation as Messiah. This was the Conquering Messiah, and Jesus was addressed that way both by the Blind Man and by the crowds on Palm Sunday.

As we discovered in our studies, Jesus was also "Messiah Ben Yosef". This was the Suffering Servant of Isaiah's prophecy. Nobody was calling Him that at the time, but it was building up before their eyes in the week before His Death and Resurrection.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 57

To the leader: Do Not Destroy. Of David. A Miktam, when he fled from Saul, in the cave.

1 Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me,
for in you my soul takes refuge;
in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge,
until the destroying storms pass by.
2 I cry to God Most High,
to God who fulfils his purpose for me.
3 He will send from heaven and save me,
he will put to shame those who trample on me.
Selah
God will send forth his steadfast love and his faithfulness.

4 I lie down among lions
that greedily devour* human prey;
their teeth are spears and arrows,
their tongues sharp swords.

5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens.
Let your glory be over all the earth.

6 They set a net for my steps;
my soul was bowed down.
They dug a pit in my path,
but they have fallen into it themselves.
Selah
7 My heart is steadfast, O God,
my heart is steadfast.
I will sing and make melody.
8 Awake, my soul!
Awake, O harp and lyre!
I will awake the dawn.
9 I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.
10 For your steadfast love is as high as the heavens;
your faithfulness extends to the clouds.

11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens.
Let your glory be over all the earth.

AMEN, joining in prayer together for the Peace of Jerusalem, for revelation of the Messiah in the hearts of those in Israel who do not know, for our families and children’s children to know their Savior and King.
