Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Mark 12

The Greatest Commandment

28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[e] 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[f] 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[g] There is no commandment greater than these.”

32 “Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. 33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

34 When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father,
Who Art in Heaven,
Blessed Be Your Glorious Name Forever!
We Come Into Your Holy Presence With Praise and Singing.
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One True God.
Ancient of Days,
Rock of Ages,
LORD of Hosts,
Omnipotent,
Omniscient,
And Omnipresent,
You Know the End from the Beginning,
And the Beginning from the End.
You Are The Author of Life,
Our Precious Creator,
You formed us in the secret places of our mother's womb,
And have a perfect plan for each and every one of us.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

In Real Estate terms, a room can't be officially called a "Bedroom" unless it has three things going for it:

1. A Window
2. A Door that can be Closed
3. A Closet.

Without those three elements, although someone may sleep in the room, it is classified as a Den, an Office, or a "Spare Room". If I ever wanted to sell my mobile home, I would have to list it as a "One Bedroom", because the second room has a Window, a Door that can close, but no Closet.

Just to pass the time and get some much-needed exercise, my sister and I went to IKEA to walk around. There I saw hundreds of "Closets" that could be erected in my "den", to make it an official Bedroom, thus increasing the value of my home. By bolting it to the wall, the cabinets were designed to become a permanent closet, and had all the right stuff inside for garments and shoes.

Then I realized that these "closets" would be delivered in a flat box, in many pieces, with "some assembly required". The instructions would not be in English or Swedish, or in any other human language, but in the Official IKEA Hieroglyphics, which I find incomprehensible. I would have to hire somebody to put it together. I realized that, if I want it done right, I will have to do it from scratch with real construction. I am not capable of that, so I'll just keep calling it a "Den". That's how I use it anyway, as it has my computer and all my art supplies crammed in there.

Winter is over, and it was delightfully mild here on the South Shore. Back in November, I went to Maine, where it had already snowed, and the ground was covered with a sheet of ice. Up there, I purchased an "Ice Shield" for my car, which reduces the amount of scraping and chipping ice off one's windshield. I ended up not having to use it much, but was amused by the warning label:

WARNING! DO NOT DRIVE VEHICLE WITH WINDSHIELD COVER IN PLACE!!

Seriously. It really said that. Who would EVER attempt to operate a motor vehicle with the entire windshield covered by a quilted mat? As I mused upon this, I remembered some other crazy signs. For Example:

An Arrow inside a Motorcycle Helmet pointing to "FRONT OF HEAD".

An indicator on a Military Weapon saying "TOWARD ENEMY".

...and many others. Rules are made upon rules upon rules, and warnings that transcend common sense.

Tragically, Religion can be like that. God's Holiness and Omnipotence are so beyond us that we can find ourselves adding to God's Law just in order to keep it. The situation is universal, and wasn't just the habit of the Pharisees.

Unfortunately, this kind of exactitude with religion can obscure the Message of God's Love. The debates become a series of "GOTCHA" questions that leave the essence of grace and Holiness behind. This is what was going on in Jesus's time but still goes on today.

To the Teachers of the Law, there were 613 Laws that were religious obligations. More rules were created after the fact, so that the 613 would not be broken. Then, people would argue about which laws were more important.

Instead of taking the bait, Jesus answered by reducing the entire Legal Code to TWO Commandments. If those two were obeyed sincerely, all the others would follow. By loving God, we want to live right in relation to Him. By loving our neighbor, we won't engage in the evil things that may cause our neighbor harm. All the rest will follow naturally.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 28

Of David.

1 To you, O Lord, I call;
my rock, do not refuse to hear me,
for if you are silent to me,
I shall be like those who go down to the Pit.
2 Hear the voice of my supplication,
as I cry to you for help,
as I lift up my hands
towards your most holy sanctuary.*

3 Do not drag me away with the wicked,
with those who are workers of evil,
who speak peace with their neighbours,
while mischief is in their hearts.
4 Repay them according to their work,
and according to the evil of their deeds;
repay them according to the work of their hands;
render them their due reward.
5 Because they do not regard the works of the Lord,
or the work of his hands,
he will break them down and build them up no more.

6 Blessed be the Lord,
for he has heard the sound of my pleadings.
7 The Lord is my strength and my shield;
in him my heart trusts;
so I am helped, and my heart exults,
and with my song I give thanks to him.

8 The Lord is the strength of his people;
he is the saving refuge of his anointed.
9 O save your people, and bless your heritage;
be their shepherd, and carry them for ever.
