Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Mark 10
Blind Bartimaeus Receives His Sight
46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”
So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.
51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him.
The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”
52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Excellent is Your Name Over All The Earth!
Blessed Are You,
King of The Universe,
And Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
How Happy we are to be called of You,
To Come into Your House With Singing and Praise,
To Exalt Your Name Together, Forever!
We Seek You, and Find You,
And You Deliver Us From Our Fears.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

In the Eastern Orthodox tradition, there is a little meditation called "The Jesus Prayer". It is not part of a liturgy, or even an official Prayer-Book Prayer, but rather it is a personal, heartfelt communication between the Believer and his God. It goes like this:
"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner."
This is not the only form of the Jesus Prayer, but it's easily remembered, can be said in one breath, and immediately establishes communication with God. I don't recite it as a formula, and it is not meant to be that anyway. It serves as a foundation for further prayer, and is very private and personal.
The first I learned of this was from a documentary online. What struck me about The Jesus Prayer is how similar it is to the plea of Bartimaeus:
...“Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
In a way, we were all spiritually blind at some point, so it is an appropriate prayer.
The Jesus Prayer addresses Jesus as "Son of God". Bartimeaus's plea addresses Him as "Son of David". Both are ROYAL Titles. By addressing Jesus as "Son of David", Bartimaeus was declaring Jesus The Messiah Ben David, or "King". Jesus didn't rebuke Bartimaeus for using this Title. Later, Bartimaeus calls Jesus "Rabbi", and Jesus accepts that appellation as well. As proper and correct as all of these titles are, nobody has yet called Jesus "Messiah Ben Yoseph". However, the next Chapter in Mark begins a new segment of that Gospel, that of the Passion of The Christ. It is then we shall see Jesus as The Suffering Servant of God as portrayed in Isaiah and Psalms.
I will be out most of the day, but will post later in the afternoon.

Psalm 96
1 O sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
tell of his salvation from day to day.
3 Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples.
4 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
he is to be revered above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the peoples are idols,
but the Lord made the heavens.
6 Honor and majesty are before him;
strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
7 Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
8 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
bring an offering, and come into his courts.
9 Worship the Lord in holy splendor;
tremble before him, all the earth.
10 Say among the nations, ‘The Lord is king!
The world is firmly established; it shall never be moved.
He will judge the peoples with equity.’
11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;
let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
12 let the field exult, and everything in it.
Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy
13 before the Lord; for he is coming,
for he is coming to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with righteousness,
and the peoples with his truth.
