Where Is the American Church in All This?
American Thinker ^ | 03/14/2023 | Cliff Nichols

Posted on 03/14/2023 10:04:20 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Recently, Tucker Carlson focused the nation's attention upon the notable silence of American Christian leaders on the Biden administration's persecution of Christians by asking,

Where are all the professional Christians? You have to wonder ... [w]here's ... all these people who are [should be] defending Christianity ... as actual Christians are being arrested for being Christians?" (emphasis added).

There are a host of excuses such professional Christian leaders might offer to explain or justify their silence.  But for the most part, most of these excuses have been debunked by people like Eric Metaxas in his latest book, Letter to the American Church.  In it, he points out that, because American church leaders today have before them the example of the dire consequences that resulted from the silence of the German church when it was confronted by the evils of Nazi tyranny, the American church has no excuse for remaining silent in the face of the similar evils presently metastasizing in this country on an ever-growing number of fronts.

Our church leaders cannot ignore that we have a government that is intent upon destroying parental rights while at the same time it is

All of this is with the thinly cloaked purpose of eventually normalizing the criminal proclivities of the ultimate perverts among us — those who are actually hoping that our society will soon be brought around to legalizing their hideous desire to sexually engage with those minors.

As both Mr. Carlson and Mr. Metaxas have suggested in their own ways, silence in the face of such evil must also be regarded as evil.

But it also raises a question: what exactly are the specific actions that these men would have the American church do today that the German church failed to do in the 1930s?

Maybe Tucker is becoming aware that the Wrath of God is upon us; all that is lacking is Famine.

Probably 40% (maybe more) of my fellow Catholics at Mass on Sundays vote for the Democrats. Until it hurts them at the ballot box the liberals will continue to cater to their weirdo base.

Too many "churches" view Christianity as an organization rather than an organism.

The first priority or "love" of an organization is self preservation.

Too many "church" leaders would never risk the organization.

Rail against evil. Loudly unambiguously and often. I noticed years ago that I heard little from the pulpit or socially about abortion and nothing about homosexuality. Stop ok don’t

the American church has no excuse for remaining silent in the face of the similar evils presently metastasizing in this country on an ever-growing number of fronts.

The "Church" of America's elites doesn't exist any more. Their religion is post-modernism and neo-Marxism.

Yes, 150 years ago, America's religious foundations, as expressed by her governing elites, was mainline Protestant Christianity. Over the last month I have been in DC, Philadelphia and NY City. One sees many beautiful old churches, built by our great-great-grandfathers for whom their faith and church were inextricably intertwined with their culture and government.

But not a single such church I saw isn't falling into disrepair and has not been taken over by some sort of Marxist/ LGBTQ ideology.

It may exist in flyover country, but otherwise, I argue the "American Church" doesn't exist any more, especially in the minds of our nation's elites. There is nothing to revive. Change will need to come from the outside.

I respectfully disagree with Tucker on this. I believe a lot of church leaders are vocal about these problems, they just don't have the major megaphones. And the few that do use their megaphones (i.e. Franklin Graham), but the media does their best to ignore them.

So the solution is not to fuss at the Christian leaders, but to get the masses to realize the Christian leaders are right and are worth tuning into. I'm sure the Christian leaders feel like Ben Carson at the so-called debate when he practically begged the "moderators" to let him finally get some air time.

Christians need to wise up to the idea that the corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification Congress gets around its 1st Amendment prohibition on making laws prohibiting religious expression by letting the executive and judicial branches get away with effectively legislating such laws.

Patriots, the bottom line is this imo. What is your threshold of “pain” for peacefully stopping unconstitutionally big state and federal governments controlled by bully, constitutionally undefined political parties, from oppressing the people under their boots?

The inevitable remedy for ongoing, post-17A ratification, corrupt political party treason (imo)...

All MAGA patriots need to wake up their RINO federal and state lawmakers by making the following clear to them.

If they don’t publicly support either a resolution, or a Constitutional Convention, to effectively "secede" ALL the states from the unconstitutionally big federal government by amending the Constitution to repeal the 16th (direct taxes) and 17th (popular voting for federal senators) Amendments (16&17A), doing so before the primary elections in 2024, that YOU will primary them.

If the proposed amendment was limited strictly to repealing 16&17A, relatively little or ideally no discussion would be needed before ratification of the amendment imo.

With 16&17A out of the way, my hope is that Trump 47 becomes the FIRST president of a truly constitutionally limited power federal government.

In the meanwhile, I'm not holding my breath for significant MAGA legislation to appear in the first 100 days of new term for what may still prove to be another RINO-controlled House.

Trump will hopefully do another round of primarying RINOs for 2024 elections.

Great questions.

The majority model for Protestant churches today is the “seeker chuch,” which is really, really light on sin, OT scripture (especially creation), and true “judgmental” scriptures, while dealing with “problems” such as “finances,” “anxiety,” “relationships,” blah blah.

Recently I viewed a series on “Answers in Genesis” that made a fantastic point: Christians today fight against issues (homosexuality, transoidism etc) but stay away from foundational questions (Who created the world? How? Why? What was Jesus’s role in all this? What is sin?)

I’d say that about the Lutheran church I am a member of.

most or all the institutional, mainline, American church and it’s leaders have been subverted by the devil and his spirit over the last century and change. acquiescence to the evil Johnson amendment certainly sped things along. the ‘abomination of desolation’ is indeed standing in the holy place.

there is also the temptation for church leaders to focus solely on their flock and families which is understandable, given the state and pressure exerted by our depraved culture and the constraints of time and resources. it’s hard to make time to show up and school board meetings to stop them from taking our children’s innocence, or walk precincts for candidates we believe in. but exactly because of the relationship between the two, i believe you have to do both.

what to do? that is simple and hard, to paraphrase Ben Franklin, resist the devil, through obedience to God. Endeavor to discern the Will of God and do right whenever and wherever you are called on to make a moral choice. believers and leaders must demonstrate and adhere to the Standard established by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

which is exactly what many of our church leaders are not doing. Pastor Pawlovsky and his church in Canada is an obvious exception. there are many exceptions here too. mostly in smaller or house churches, or among individual children of God. “Take up your cross and follow Me.”

and what will be the ultimate cultural manifestation of ‘obedience to God’ in America: imo, a Holy Spirit led and fed revival manifesting among the faithful. in the absence of that, nothing will change.

I’ve heard of the Church of England. Never heard of the “American Church” before.
