Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Mark 9
Whoever Is Not Against Us Is for Us

38 “Teacher,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.”

39 “Do not stop him,” Jesus said. “For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, 40 for whoever is not against us is for us. 41 Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD,
You are Forever Holy and Righteous.
How Excellent is Your Name!
It is You Who Stretched out the Heavens,
And it is You Who laid the Foundations of the Earth.
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise,
You Alone Are The One True God of Abraham!
Ancient of Days,
Rock of Ages,
Eternal, and Almighty,
We Can Do Nothing But Fall On Our Faces
Before You in Endless Worship and Thanksgiving!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

The Internet has added many new terms to our vocabulary. One of these is Concern Troll. A concern troll seems to be on the side of his opponent, but injects "concerns" into the conversation in order to disrupt and destroy the opponent.

There is an old joke about a man about to jump off a bridge. It is very complex, as it involves Denominations, Conferences, Sects, and Divisions. Some of you may know the joke, and I don't want to reprint it here, because it mocks Christianity for its disunity. But I'll bet you have read it before as it has been posted many times on this site. It makes me sad to read it, because, even though Doctrinal Truth is VERY IMPORTANT to our Faith, fighting over little points of interpretation can be destructive. This is just my humble opinion, but you are my witnesses that, when I do speak about controversial issues on this thread, I always note whether something is "my opinion" rather than Scripture. The following interpretation of Today's Reading is "just my humble opinion".

The Disciples had heard that there were others in the were doing miracles in the name of Jesus. They were really upset about this. Some of the possible reasons could have been:

1. Jealousy: They thought that these preachers were "stealing their thunder".

2. Doctrinal Purity: The disciples could have been genuinely concerned that these preachers were spreading false doctrine.

3. Exclusivity: The disciples may have felt that they alone had the authority to preach and do miracles in Jesus' Name

4. Concern: Maybe the disciples were "concerned" that the other preachers were pretending to be sincere, but were actually "concern trolling" their Movement. Or perhaps the disciples were trying their own hand at "Concern Trolling".

Whatever their motivation, Jesus called them up short when He said:

“Do not stop him,” Jesus said. “For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us..."

This is in line with the wisdom of the rabbi Gamaliel, who, in the Book of Acts, says:

Acts 5:34-39
New International Version

34 But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, who was honored by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a little while. 35 Then he addressed the Sanhedrin: “Men of Israel, consider carefully what you intend to do to these men. 36 Some time ago Theudas appeared, claiming to be somebody, and about four hundred men rallied to him. He was killed, all his followers were dispersed, and it all came to nothing. 37 After him, Judas the Galilean appeared in the days of the census and led a band of people in revolt. He too was killed, and all his followers were scattered. 38 Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. 39 But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.”

If a movement is not of God, it will fail. We've seen denominations, movements, revivals, sects, and divisions come and go, but the Word of God abides FOREVER.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Amen.
May God speed the movements that are not of God, to fail quickly.
And the movements of God, to be clear and overwhelming.

Blessings and Prayers up.
