In a novel in-air press conference with the head of the Church of England and the head of the Church of Scotland, Pope Francis repeated his remarks first made on January 25 about the need for an end to anti-sodomy laws.
Noting that some 50 countries have anti-sodomy laws, Francis said as he was returning from a six-day trip to Africa, “The criminalization of homosexuality is a problem that cannot be ignored.”
While the laws criminalize behaviors and not inclinations, Pope Francis conflated the two concepts in his remarks, saying of the anti-sodomy laws: “Persons with homosexual tendencies are children of God. God loves them. God accompanies them… condemning a person like this is a sin. Criminalizing people with homosexual tendencies is an injustice.”
Rt. Rev. Iain Greenshields, the Moderator of the Church of Scotland, which permits homosexual “marriage” in their churches, praised Francis for his remarks, as did the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, the lead bishop of the Church of England, which permits homosexual blessings in their churches. “I entirely agree with every word he said there… I shall certainly quote the Holy Father. He said it so beautifully and accurately,” Welby said.
In his January 25 remarks, Pope Francis said that the Catholic Church needs to be involved in the dismantling of laws that criminalize homosexuality and that the Catholic bishops of Africa and other places that have such laws need a “conversion.”
The Pope’s mounting pressure on Africa in particular comes at the same time as a heavy push from the West to have Africa embrace homosexuality. The pressure has come in the form of loans and grants being contingent on such moves…

While he was at it, as the MORAL leader of Catholics, did Francis speak out against the PRACTICE of Sodomy itself?
Jesus forgave the adulterous woman but he did tell her to SIN NO MORE.
Did Francis say the same to sodomites?

They’re in denial.
I know some Christians who still think they’re catholic, but when you quiz them up, they’re actually Christian. I don’t know why any person of God would keep associating with the evil of the Vatican.
You didn’t go to the same Catholic schools I went to - we had a Priest tell all of us guys that it was a Mortal Sin to eat meat on Friday.

Meh...when I was a practicing Catholic, the RCC was nowhere near stating this. I mean priests in my church were falling all over themselves to emphasize that you were only going to Hell if YOU WANTED TO. More clearly, if you just didn’t want to live in God’s presence due to the things you’d have to forsake. Though we occasionally (rarely) had the priest who spoke about sin, much more frequently we had the social activist priest to rambled on about how we needed to care for the marginalized, oppressed, and outcast. They did this so much that the congregation started to lose sight of converting souls instead of just satisfying material needs.
Does anyone here disagree with the theological statement?Of all the social, cultural, political, legal and economic problems facing Africa, the Pope picks out criminalized homosexuality as the most urgent.

Believing poofters when they assert they only want X is worse odds than believing Democrats when they promise border security someday for amnesty now.
It’s the classic sociopathic moving the goalposts nudging technique.
The degradation and depravity the poofters etc experience and seek to drag everyone else through comes straight from how demons hate humans. The homosexuals did not necessarily prompt themselves to ever worse corruptions in society, ever greater evils, but being under the dominion and influence of those that hate them they obey their masters.
The only escape for anyone is calling on Christ in repentance and receiving the Holy Spirit.
