The last two popes — while quite different — were recognizably believers. I sure do miss them !

Perhaps Pope Benedict feared for his life and the lives of others if he published these articles before his death.

> He’s certainly not a religious dictator. <

Agreed. But the pope has great temporal power. For example, suppose a seminary has an openly gay club. Close the whole place down, and then rebuild it from scratch. Remove the supervisors from any future leadership positions.

That sort of thing would send a powerful message.

Oh, and I’m not picking on popes particularly here. Most bosses prefer to kick the can down the road rather than make the tough decisions.

the appearance of any word from me immediately provokes a murderous clamor on their part.

Thanks for that info. Is this his kind gentlemanly way of saying he was receiving death threats, one must wonder.

How ‘bout it. Tired of the weak-kneed people on our side.

#3: "I hope Benedict wasn’t the last Catholic pope, but it is beginning to look that way."

That's what the predictions were at the time. Still need someone to explain why he resigned. That was a boneheaded move which only hurt the world more.

Yes. I am sorry to admit I don’t know finer details of Canon Law or Church Government.

Benedict probably was too soft, too academic, too old, too respectful of positions and titles that he should not be.

This job is both pope, and a politician.

certainly I imagine it was within his power “somewhere” to drop a bomb, send a message, and take a stand, even it wasn’t an absolute fix.

Yep....I remember those predictions....that originated very long ago, IIRC.

Good questions. I just don’t know why someone wouldn’t use the authority their office gave them for good.

At least the past 5-6 popes let the Pedo priests continue their abuse.

Why do our people have to be such quitters? He should have stayed on as Pope until the bitter end.

Like Jesus Christ condemning the Jewish Religious Hierarchy, sometimes religious institutions are corrupt beyond redemption.

Revelation 18: 4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

I don’t want Jesus in sandals, I want him riding the horse with the sword of the word at his command coming to end this farce and set up a true free kingdom in His name.

The Homo Lobby has gotten control of the Catholic Church or at least the Seminaries.
