Had a coworker who went to her doctor with back pain. After examining her he examined her purse and discovered it weighed twenty-five pounds. Once she lightened it, problem solved.

She found it after giving up, and instead went looking for the keys, which were under the mail, which reminded here that her checkbook was on the dining room table, which needed sorting, and there it was under the bowl by the very candle she had been using to look for it everywhere else.

Well, that’s how it works in our house, anyway.

And, yes, we rejoice when a sinner repents!

That's certainly an effective way to lighten a purse. Talk about an immediate healing! It's the simple meaning.

Yes, there is that double-meaning. Good catch.

Afraid we’ve gone down a rabbit-hole here. Still, when she found the coin, Jesus gave her rest.

I had been born again two weeks previously, sitting next to the young lady who would become my wife. Cheryl was a mature, faith-filled Christian already.

Our second date was a Sunday afternoon in a park. When we returned to the car I noticed that my expensive pen was no longer in my pocket!

Cheryl just said, “Wait here.” Off she went into that large park, and in five minutes she came back with two things: my pen, and a blessed demonstration of the power of faith.

She still manifests it.

Very nice illustrations, paintings and stunning “fenster”.
#1 by Fetti, a solid painter from the Baroque period. He was known for small representations of biblical parables set in everyday life. I love his painting of the Sleeping Girl, very detailed and has a soft brush work.
#4 Tissot
#19 by Burnard, a very talented and respected Swiss painter. We have encountered him last year in the painting of Peter and John rushing to the sepulcher the morning of the Resurrection. In that highly expressive work we can see the influence of Jean-François Millet, famous for his paintings illustrating rural life.
#21 Second encounter with the sacro-cubism of Santangelo.

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

That reminds me of all the accusations hurled at Jesus for healing on the Sabbath, of his doing good "works" on that particular day.

It's not any work at all if it's love. No work at all, such that ideally more "work" could get done on the Sabbath than on all of the other days combined, basically overriding the entire, established business-as-usual model.

Carpe Diem! There goes the neighborhood!

(Abraham rejoiced to sees his day: and he saw it, and was glad.)

Redemption parable: no deposit, no return

People will search high and low for a lost car key, house key, phone, the remote ... ("Now where did I leave that?"). In fact, how much wealth ends up deposited in a couch over time, after so much sitting?

Luke 5
23 Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?
24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.
25 And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.
26 And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.
27 And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me.
It's a weird little world out there. 😉
