The Church Must Speak Out: Churches have remained publicly quiet for decades on the moral issues of the day so as not to appear too controversial or too political

Churches have remained publicly quiet for decades on the moral issues of the day so as not to appear too controversial or too political. As a result, public debate is often left to those without a biblical worldview. The consequences of this passivity have contributed to the unraveling of American civil society. It is well past time to end the silence.

The Progressive Elites talk endlessly about "democracy," but their intention is typically a ruse to implement a top-down liberal agenda. They allow normalizing pedophilia, trafficking children for sex, sexually grooming kids, encouraging transgender surgery for minors, and promoting unlimited abortion and gay marriage. These actions are all against God's purpose, as the Bible instructs us. While a few individuals and churches may be speaking out about these issues, their numbers need to grow to have any effect.

Churches are comfortable with business as usual at a time when we need to lean on God. People realize that things are not the same as they were just a few years ago, and they are looking for the Church to guide them, and many churches are silently playing it safe on these core moral problems in our country today. If the Christian community remains silent because we fear the repercussions of speaking out, are we living out our faith? Are we trusting in God?

In his compelling book, A Letter to the American Church, Eric Metaxas notes the frightening similarities between the contemporary American Church and the German Church of the 1930s.  Of course, the German Church could not have imagined what was coming in the years ahead.  Who would have imagined the Holocaust could have happened in an enlightened and advanced Western nation like theirs?

Many in the United States assume something like the Holocaust could never happen here because our human nature is above all that. Well, think again. Throughout history, human nature has remained the same no matter where you live.

The question is this — Would our moral foundation enable us to give up our job, wealth, family, and life to oppose evil? Or would we succumb to silence by the immediate need for self-preservation?

The column goes on to say “Of course, the central thrust of the Church is sharing the Gospel message of salvation by faith in Christ Jesus.”

Church leaders use this as a cop out so they don’t have to do anything. In most cases, the only Gospel sharing is on Sunday morning and they fail to see that being involved in the culture leads to far more opportunities to share salvation with those who may never darken the church door.

In other words, many church leaders are lazy and ignorant.

When I approached my church leadership about not capitulating to the state mandates telling them to shut down during the covid scam, I was told they didn’t want to risk their 501C3 and the online church would work.

Uh huh.

Speculation about mainline Churches.

FBI and state AG have strong armed Bishops, threatening that they will begin prosecution by frivolous cases against clergy.

For whatever reason, there is a great fear of the left in this country

There’s a great fear of what the New York Times and other liberal media Outlets will say about you, if you speak out on the issues of the day.

There’s even a fear of being a target of the idiot late night comedians on TV, since they are all liberal in their humor

So there is a tendency to try to avoid being a Target of liberals in the media.

“Church” is a human institution. Human institutions become obsolete and wither away.

Gd is alive. The church is dead.

Let’s not forget, skippy, that once the tax-exempt status is lost, the church opens itself up to endless attacks by the IRS! You know, that org which attacks conservatives and conservative organzations!

Most Baptist churches do IK. But the Southern Baptist Convention “leadership” seems to put its finger to the wind and test how the major media and Facebook will view them - and to hell with the sheep!

LBJ pulled the teeth of the Church among his other accomplishments. Another great accomplishment of the Democrat Party. LBJ served his Master and father well during his time on Earth. Both the media and voting Public loved him.

Tax exempt status does NOT require remaining silent. WHITE churches cannot endorse specific candidates. From the pulpit. But they can speak out on moral and therefor political issues and point out individuals like Biden as being in total rebellion against God.

Most don’t because “members” will leave. After all, the “American Gospel” says Sugar Daddy God loves you just the way you are, but wants you to be a better and richer you!

Sin? What is that? Repent? Many don’t even know what the word means! Take up your cross and follow Me? What “cross”?

The church's mission is to preach the good news (gospel), which is the life, death and resurrection of Jesus and the salvation that comes in believing that He is the Messiah; the propitiation for our sin; that He is the only the way, truth and life. Receiving and believing in Christ is a choice.

Do the majority of Christian churches in the U.S. preach the gospel? For the sake of argument let's say they do. Then what we are seeing in our society is moral decay, which is not the result of people not hearing the gospel or the church failing to preach the gospel - but rather individuals choosing the world, he flesh and the devil over Christ's gospel.

While that may be true, the loss of tax exempt status also frees churches to advocate for political goals and to recommend candidates for office. Very much a two-edged sword.

And yet most churches are ignorant of the fact that 501c3 law explicitly declares churches as exempt. They do not need to file for 501c3, nor worry about it. This whole idea that the church must ‘watch what it says’ otherwise the government will tax them is absurd and completely contrary to many aspects of the Constitution, especially the 1A - free speech and freedom of religion!! ...but together they risk government imposition? No!

Politics can’t be separated from religion. Anyone that believes it can doesn’t understand the relationship of either.

Churches should stop playing this game and realize they are free to speak on today’s issues per the Gospel. Ever notice that churches that preach D talking points never worry? Then have D candidates speaking at their services!

It’s time the Church got a spine.
