When depicting the apostles, a convention developed to include the means by which they were martyred. Today we see a lance, a saw and an axe. Don’t know about other symbols.

I very much like the portrait of St. Jude at #2.
Having been in St. Matthias Church in Trier, I like the effigy of the Saint who is buried here. His face reminds me of sculptures of Jesus of that period.

Yes, all attributes of their martyrdom. The palm represents the victory of martyrs, the victory of the spirit over the flesh.

But why the palm? Is there a connection to Jesus' triumphal entry on Palm Sunday?

In pre-Christian times the palm was regarded as a symbol of victory. As this article explains, the early Christians saw death as victory.
