Vatican Confirms Papal Apology, Russia Praises ‘Ability to Admit Mistakes’

ROME – Confirming remarks by a Russian government spokesperson, the Vatican said Thursday that Pope Francis has apologized for controversial recent remarks that Russian minorities are responsible for the most “cruel” acts in the ongoing war in Ukraine.

In a statement to journalists Dec. 15, Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said, “I can confirm, regarding the comments made by the Russians about the apology from the Vatican, that there have been diplomatic contacts in this regard.”

Bruni’s statement came after Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova at a briefing in Moscow said that, “A message has been received from the Vatican through diplomatic channels, which contains an official statement on behalf of the Secretary of State of the Holy See, Pietro Parolin, in connection with the statement of the Pope.”

This message, Zakharova said, states that the Vatican’s Secretariat of State “apologizes to the Russian side” and voices the Holy See’s “deep respect for all the peoples of Russia, their dignity, faith and culture, as well as for other countries and peoples of the world.”

“The ability to admit one’s mistakes is becoming less and less common in modern international communication,” Zakharova said, saying the Holy See’s message “shows that behind the Vatican’s calls for dialogue is the ability to conduct this dialogue and listen to interlocutors.”

It’s good to see that the Pope now realizes that there’s more to this war than Putin waking up on the wrong side of the bed on Feb. 24.

Comrade Putin’s check to Pope Francis must have cleared the bank.

It was Parolin, not Bergoglio, who made the apology.

The narcissist, Bergoglio, has never apologized for any of his own actions or words. He’s too proud.

He will, however, in the name of the Church, apologize to homos, divorcees, illegals, muslims, communist governments, ets.

The pope is a victim of the government/media full course press on Russia, Russia, Russia. There are many media saps here on FR who will automatically libel him a Putin stooge over this. In reality, the pope is a globalist stooge as are the media saps around here.

My take is that the Moscow establishment are as delusional as the globalists, in a different way. Both sides deserve to be removed from the earth but both sides have a nuclear deterrent so there’s no getting rid of them. And that is a challenge the human race is going to have to face. How do we rid the earth of these warmongers on both sides?

I knew Russia had nukes but no idea the Vatican had them as well. Secret archives under the Vatican my foot. It's a missile silo!

The Pope, once my Pope, hates the traditional Catholic Church of John Paul, a great man and Pope. The Pope today is a political socialist if not Marxist. He is a political activist first and only first.

My great church has fallen. It all started in the seminary’s many years ago. Socialist Marxist ideology infiltrated them starting back in the 1920s. That was when socialism was considered good.

Our present Pope is a function of the College of Cardinal who elect The Pope. The College of Cardinals is mostly Socialist.

My Church has failed.
