M A R K CHAPTER 2* A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. So many gathered that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. Some men came, bringing to him a paralytic, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?” Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? Which is easier: to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins . . .” He said to the paralytic, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”

Astounded by #35, and never having heard of Jan Rambouts I discovered the following:
Jan Rombouts the Elder, (c. 1480 in Leuven – 1535 in Leuven), was a Flemish Renaissance painter, glass painter, draftsman, printmaker and glass designer. The subjects of his work are stories from the Old and New Testament and the lives of Christian saints. The details of the life of Jan Rombouts are sketchy. He signed his work with a monogram which had been read by the 19th century city archivist of Leuven Edward van Even as representing the letters IVR.

I’ve found very few fensters attributed to Rombouts, but windows usually are unattributed, so that’s unsurprising.

Mine, too. Such faith!
And I thoroughly enjoyed The Chosen's treatment of it.

IIRC, #29 is the illustration that accompanied the story in those Bible Story books. But that was from 60 years ago when I was a kid reading them, so I may be mistaken.................

Splendid #1; #9 by Copping. Love #19 by Richards, a contemporary Christian artist, a very sensitive composition.
#34 by Kim whose work I greatly admire.
Among the fenster, #35 by Rombouts is exquisite.

Merry Christmas, Alba! I'm with you: Kim is a superstar talent. He
thinks, maybe not to Tissot's level, but plenty. Here is his view of Jesus saving Peter when he sank while water-walking:

Good Morning Dan, and glad Friday to each of you!
One of our favorite Bible stories- and so many favorites here:
#9 Copping
#16 (glass)
#23 (artist unknown) Dan, this one is my favorite; the Savior looks up to His Father in joy, as this emaciated sinner is made whole.
Isn’t this each our own story too? We were wasted and dirty, reviled, but the Creator of the stars was willing to hike thru the wilderness, looking for a lost sheep. Then He placed us across His shoulders, and brought us home.
Thank You Dan =:^)

Well said, Leon.
And in Kim’s painting: hope you noticed Jesus’ amusement.

My vote goes to no. 19, which best shows the outside crowd which had prevented the paralytic from reaching Jesus.
There some neat parallels here to that from John 5 about the paralytic at the Bethesda pool who was unable to enter the pool by himself. Unlike our first man here, who had friends to help, the man at the pool had no one. Jesus rewarded both for their hope and faith.
