[Catholic Caucus] Again: Francis Is Protecting a Convicted Abuser

Francis personally blocked an excommunication of Father Marko Rupnik, a famous Jesuit artist who is accused by several (!) consecrated women of sexual assault and psychological abuse, MessaInLatino.it reports citing “high-level sources.”

Earlier this year, a canonical trial convicted Rupnik for absolving in confession an adult and consenting female sexual accomplice. The verdict was unanimous and the punishment was excommunication.

But a few hours after the sentence was announced, Francis lifted the excommunication at Rupnik's request. The Company of Jesus had already prepared a statement on the matter but was stopped.

The Jesuit Procurator General described another sexual relationship, dating back to the 1990s, with a consenting woman which was not part of the trial, as “gruesome.” He asked for a trial but Francis prevented it. On November 30, Rupnik received an honorary degree by the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná, Brazil (pictured).

The Jesuits said in a December 2 statement that they have barred Rupnik from hearing confessions or conducting spiritual direction.

Already in Argentina, Francis was known for protecting abusers if the abuser belonged to his clerical faction. Since hie is on Rome, he protected Bishop Zanchetta and Father Inzoli, among others.

Since the oligarch media uses sexual assaults in the church for political purposes, Francis, who is their ally, does not have to fear them.

“The Jesuits said in a December 2 statement that they have barred Rupnik from hearing confessions or conducting spiritual direction.”

It’s been obvious for a long time that Bergoglio is far more corrupt than the Jesuit order itself. Allegedly, the Jesuits begged JP2 not to make him a bishop and sent Rome a dossier on his mental and personal defects. However, JP2 apparently disbelieved them on the wrongheaded notion that they were just slandering Bergoglio because he was a conservative. A tragic miscalculation/misinterpretation by JP2 — one that evolved into a catastrophe for the Church.

Pope Frank had a rep for being a conservative in Argentina? JP2 had lousy info.

This interview with Henry Sire is worth a read:
https://rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2021/12/major-interview-by-henry-sire-author-of.html

This Q&A in particular:

“Among the Jesuits in Argentina, Bergoglio was considered a “conservative”. He owed his career to “conservatives.” He had no support from his order. What went wrong?”

“You touch on the great mystery of Bergoglio’s career, his transition from the right-hand man of the “reactionary” Cardinal Quarracino in Buenos Aires to the favourite of the St Gallen Group. The only explanation I can see is that, in the declining years of Pope John Paul II, it was expected that a more liberal pope would succeed him, and Bergoglio wanted to be on the winning side. I don’t think he seriously expected to be the papal candidate himself before 2005. But essentially the problem is that Bergoglio has no real principles, like the typical Peronist that he is.”
