Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Matthew 12
God’s Chosen Servant
15 Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. A large crowd followed him, and he healed all who were ill. 16 He warned them not to tell others about him. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
18 “Here is my servant whom I have chosen,
the one I love, in whom I delight;
I will put my Spirit on him,
and he will proclaim justice to the nations.
19 He will not quarrel or cry out;
no one will hear his voice in the streets.
20 A bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out,
till he has brought justice through to victory.
21 In his name the nations will put their hope.”[b]

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our God and Our King,
You are the One and Only True God of All.
You Alone are Worthy of Worship and Praise.
How Glorious the Vision Your Have Given the Prophets
Of a Wonderful Day When Your Will Make Jerusalem The Joy of the Whole Earth,
And there will be no need of the sun, for You will be our Light,
And All will know that You Are LORD of All
There will be no more tears,
No More Sorrow, No More Pain
We Know that you are With us.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

(Names are changed because these folks are still with us!) Ann, a friend of mine, worked for years as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Boston. In those days, LPNs were considered not quite as "professional" as an RN, and way below the status of a BSN (a Nurse with a Bachelor's Degree). Years before, Eileen, another friend who had her RN, and who had received the utmost respect working in Alaska during the Pipeline Construction, returned to Boston to find out that she needed a BSN to achieve any kind of success in Boston's World-Renowned Hospitals. And so, after years of working as a nurse in the rugged Tundra of the Arctic, Eileen went back to school.
Ann took a similar route, but instead of Alaska, she journeyed in the other direction. She went to Haiti as a Missionary. She stayed for 11 years, and in that time experienced no fewer than nine Government Coups, two earthquakes, several hurricanes, the Clinton Embargo, and exposure to Tropical Diseases. In her capacity as an LPN, she assisted women in childbirth, held clinics, provided nutrition to starving children, dug wells, trained villagers in sanitation, and did minor surgical procedures. No Boston LPN would be allowed to do what she did, but in Haiti, she was the only game in town. It was my mission at home to raise money for her, and send her stuff in the mail, like coffee, a toothbrush, and toilet paper, so she could continue to function. When she returned to Boston after 11 years, her LPN wasn't good enough. Luckily, there was a College that took her 11-Year Life Experience into consideration, added a few liberal arts courses, and gave her an RN/BSN after a little over a year. That was the first time I ever heard about such a program.
Even as I write this, my beloved sister is working on her Masters Degree so that she can get paid as much as the newer, younger, less experienced employees who are her co-workers. We may not think that this is fair, but that is the Way Of The World now. The point I am making is that one's actual capabilities don't hold as much weight in Today's World as one's credentials.
When John The Baptist struggled with his faith a few chapters ago, Jesus countered with a catalog of Miracles He was performing. He was quoting His capabilities to John. But that wasn't enough. He was also quoting Scripture as He described the Miracles. In that way, He was also citing His credentials.
Once again, Matthew quotes the Septuagint as he further establishes the "credentials" of Jesus as Messiah. Matthew cites the Scriptures so frequently that it is a feature of this Gospel that indicates to scholars that Matthew was writing primarily to Jewish People. They would have recognized his citations, and see the connections that showed that Jesus was the Messiah.
Just a little note here. I am not against credentials, but in my own life experience I have always placed more emphasis on capabilities. It could be because I have none of the former, but a lot of the latter. Maybe that's why I don't make much money! I've always been a bit of a rebel, I guess.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.
